🙏 Grateful to God for this milestone at Microhaem Scientifics (MHS).
Yesterday we marked a historic moment as the first indigenous manufacturer of diagnostic test kits in the Great Lakes Region, following the commissioning of our Phase II facility led by Rt. Hon. @Thomas_Tayebwa , Deputy Speaker of Parliament, our Guest of Honour.
Through a Thanksgiving Prayer led by Pastor Dr. Moses Maka Ndimukika (ECD, Seventhday Adventist Church).-& Foundation Laying Ceremony, we dedicate this next chapter to God, advancing Africa’s capacity to locally manufacture quality diagnostics for Malaria, HIV & Sickle Cell.
✨ Quality Saves Lives.

Ultimately, our health systems are only as strong as our ability to own them. To build this sovereignty, we must align Agenda 2063, the African CDC’s New Public Health Order, and our national strategies, turning them all into measurable outcomes. The future of African health lies in collaboration, science, and shared responsibility.

That new light is seeing health as an economic sector, not just a social one. By investing in local manufacturing, Africa can turn its 95% import rate into jobs, industries, and innovation. A healthy population fuels a strong economy, that’s the real wealth. This is the only way to build a system that can stand on its own.

For decades, we haven't lacked commitments. From Abuja (2001) to countless other declarations, Africa has made strong promises on health. The challenge is in fulfilling them. The 2025 #AfricaHealthSummit is our moment to take stock and move from commitment to implementation.

Our core vulnerability is dependency. A single letter from a foreign capital can pause millions in health assistance. That’s our reality and our wake-up call. We must stop outsourcing our health future. Africa’s health resilience will come from homegrown innovation, regional solidarity, and rethinking how we finance and govern health. The first step in this "rethinking" is to look at our own commitments.

For @AndrewTebba, Chair of the Scientific Committee for the inaugural #AfricaHealthSummit, it’s about Redefining Africa’s Health Narrative
For too long, Africa’s health has been described as a burden, a drain on resources. It’s time to rewrite that story. Health is not a cost; it’s an investment in productivity, stability, and growth. A healthy Africa is not a dependent continent, it’s a sovereign powerhouse. But to achieve this, we must first confront our core vulnerability.
