@Austin_Federa @NYCMayor If you tax someone who earned a billion dollars at 80% they are left with hundreds of millions of dollars, they can keep their private jets. If you tax someone who eared 80k (slightly above the NYC median income) at 40%, they wouldn’t be able to cover NYC’s median rent.

This is a very disingenuous framing - 50% of the city's budget is paid by the top 2% of New York City residents. Balancing the budget or raising taxes on people who are already taxed the highest both fall on the top 2%. All we're asking is our tax dollars are used efficiently and thoughtfully to deliver relief and need to those less fortunate. Unfortunately, the city keeps spending money on issues like homelessness and public housing without producing results. We know public housing can work (just look at Singpapore) but New York City Housing Authority is the worst, lease responsible major landlord in the city.

Today, I’m releasing the City’s preliminary budget. After years of fiscal mismanagement, we’re staring at a $5.4 billion budget gap — and two paths. One: Albany can raise taxes on the ultra-wealthy and the most profitable corporations and address the fiscal imbalance between our city and state. The other, a last resort: balance the budget on the backs of working people using the only tools at the City's disposal.   The first path matches a structural crisis with a sustainable and fair solution. I know where I stand. New Yorkers voted for bold change and competent leadership. We will deliver both, and we look forward to partnering with Albany to protect working New Yorkers.

A massive pleasure working with Kai's team to get this over the line. Kai absolutely smashed it this weekend. It's going to be very fun watching him in the championship for the rest of the season.

We are delighted to confirm the signing of Kai Wagner from Philadelphia Union for an undisclosed fee, subject to approval and international clearance. ✍️ The 28-year-old defender has put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half-year contract.

I'm a big fan of the NWSLPA's suggestion of just adding $1M to the salary cap over NWSL HIP proposal, but this statement by the PA really ignores the powers they agreed to give the NWSL in a CBA that federal labor law required them to negotiate in good faith:

The NWSLPA has announced its continued opposition to the #NWSL's High Impact Player rule. "The League’s unilateral action leaves the NWSLPA no choice but to take action to enforce the rights of the Players we represent." Meghann Burke detailed why here: espn.com/soccer/story/_…

Erkut is a great guy, and very close w/Levine. Was involved with Levine's group (of which Ozil was a member)'s acquisition of Necaxa. Santiago was Necaxa's sporting director when Levine's group acquired the club, so very much a known quantity by them as well.

Two possible CSO candidates for D.C. United, per sources: - Erkut Sogut (who was hired by D.C. to help in coaching search that ended with Rene Weiler. Best known as an agent, representing Mesut Ozil & others) - Santiago San Roman (currently w/ Toluca, previously Necaxa)

He will get paid through the end of his deal, BUT today is the Roster Freeze Date, so if he was waived yesterday (Thursday), the waiver period concludes at 5pm Monday (the second business day after being waived), I don't think anyone can pick him up for the rest of the season.

New England waives Aljaz Ivacic to clear an int’l roster spot. Ivacic on track to get green card, which would make him domestic player in MLS. Ivacic should have options this winter in free agency.

Once again: Total salary spend is just one way to look at a team’s spend/ambition/whatever. It does not include transfer fees (most important) nor infrastructure. In a salary capped league, this is mostly who spends more on DP salary. That’s one way to compete, but not the only

💰 Once again, Inter Miami lead MLS in total roster spend. CF Montréal are a distant last. However, three of the top five teams in salary spend are not above the playoff line All 30 clubs' total salary: givemesport.com/mls-salary-rel…
