This is one of Ireland's most beautiful Nature Reserves: Derryclare in Co. Galway. Like all our Atlantic rainforests, words, or even images, cannot do it justice. Also, like all our native forests it's under pressure, but here there is at least some good news...

We have to believe that change is possible. That the forest at Derryclare still exists at all should tell us that that we need to hang on. The state & its organs must get their act together. We need to deliver much faster & at much greater scale.🤞a new application is on the way!

@HMcEvansoneya Lots of undergrad writing is exactly that: a mishmash of ideas beginning to make connections and to draw conclusions. That it is doing the work of getting it to this point is very impressive. I haven’t seen remarks that it presents sophisticated arguments.

This is a bittersweet moment as the release of the paper coincides with the passing of Latour, which is saddening after spending so much time with his writings. I cannot imagine having made sense of this without his work. He will be sorely missed. 3/3

I make use of Bruno Latour's Actor-Network Theory to uncover and show how the grass crop is intertwined with Irish social life, political economy and ecology. This highlights the political challenge of building a new imaginary for the possibilities of Irish landscapes. 2/3

I recently published a paper with @LandscapeResJ on the grass crop's agency in Ireland's landscape imaginary. I show how the grass crop advances its interests through a range of methods, framing grass-cover as the only legitimate land use in Ireland. 1/3
