I wonder if Xur's inventory this week is intentional?
If you read the flavor texts of the exotics and catalysts featured this week (minus Hawkmoon as it's always here), the message is something like:
"Our tools were shoddy, but we made it work (Arbalest). Now, have joy, and sing one last time (Riskrunner). Despite the treachery, the game still stood (Queenbreaker's); and, though we were limited despite having so many great ideas (Borealis), we have hope that the game will live again (Heir Apparent)."
With a little imagination, the legendaries can be read in a similar way (though there is more emphasis on the actual weapon names):
"This is the Nature of the Beast: A Deadpan Delivery when we were eager (flavor text on Seventh Seraph Saw) to keep pushing when the game was doing well. Farewell, we were Duty Bound to be the First in and the Last out. Now, take your place among the company of heroes (Berenger's Memory flavor text) as we face the Abyssal Edge."
Just the message for easier reading:

In the end I'm so glad I got to have so many great experiences with the game, but this song specifically makes me so fucking happy that in the end I was able to have my gurdians and drifter have a happy ending

RIP Destiny 2.
It’s a sad day. A real end of an era.
The news that Destiny 2 will no longer receive future updates after June is heartbreaking. Destiny was never just a game to me - it was a place of joy, friendships, and community.
Destiny has been my home since 2014. Through it, I made lifelong friends, overcame challenges both in-game and in real life, and created memories I’ll carry forever.
It inspired me to start a podcast centered around a game that became my happy place. Because of that journey, I had the opportunity to meet and interview some of my favorite creators, actors, and developers.
Attending GCX and getting to participate on a panel alongside so many incredible people is something I’ll always hold close.
I’ll never forget my first raid in Vault of Glass, my first flawless run in Trials, and the excitement of countless Day 1 launches. Those moments meant more than I can put into words.
I can’t wait to jump back into Destiny 2 one more time in June for one last run.
Thank you for the memories. And with all my heart, I hope this isn’t a final goodbye — just a see you later.

Many changes in this final update will aim to ensure that Destiny 2 is a welcoming place for players to return to. We’re proud of Destiny 2, the places it took us, and the legacy it has created. Because of you all, our universe is vast, built on years of shared stories, adventures, and victories. From the Cosmodrome to the Pale Heart to the Lawless Frontier, we have forged life-long memories and friendships with you all. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made that journey with us. I retired from Destiny 2 shortly after The Final Shape. As a Destiny fan since D1 beta, I have been really enjoying Marathon despite not really being a PvP player. Now, I am reinstalling Destiny 2 to send it off, properly.
