@CatieGR Suggest you’re probably more likely to find data for where they have spawned. Slope is important in the context of NB shear stress and so, bed sediment condition, but suggest fish will be less “bothered” by slope itself - more the “things” it influences/controls.

Can anyone tell me of a paper that says there is a river slope or gradient that salmon (Atlantic ideally) will not spawn in (possibly due to the sediment sizes that would be there)

1/ So we recently got the nod to start building the £120m Bridgwater Tidal Barrier. But before we can begin any major project there’s a lot to prepare including investigating the archeological history of the site. Today I joined those preparations. Here’s a thread….

#GaugeOfTheWeek: Blyth on the River Ryton, has had a brand new sensor installed which uses a laser beam to take velocity measurements below the water surface. This new sensor is then cross-checked with an equally new ultrasonic flow meter connected to a smartphone. #Hydrometry

In my book anyone can be at risk of #flooding. Even people living on hills. ( As my near neighbour found out a few weeks back!) Surface water flooding is on the increase, more people are at risk of surface water flooding than river flooding. Are you #Floodaware? @30Days30WaysUK

Interesting to see water injection #dredging at Combwich Wharf on River Parrett with Van Oord's Baldr & tug boat Havik. NOT work for SRA but EDF (Hinkley Point). Thanks to Rob Kidson @IDBsomerset for pics. Baldr does not have its own propulsion so is manouevred & driven by Havik
