Scientists have discovered that ants, after collecting grains and seeds which they need to store for the winter, actually break them into halves before storing in their nests. This is because by breaking the seeds into half, it stops them from germinating despite the most perfect conditions.
But here comes the even more interesting part.
Scientists were stunned when they discovered that coriander seeds stored in the ant nest were always broken down into 4 pieces instead of 2 pieces.
After some lab research, scientists discovered that a coriander seed is the only seed that can germinate even after being divided into two, but can not germinate after it’s divided into four parts.

Today the Senate will vote on One Nation's inquiry into fraud, waste and abuse in the NDIS.
The scheme was originally set up to care for the severely disabled, but it has since been abused and the cost has already reached $50 billion a year, on track to reach $100 billion.
There is a large number of unregistered providers (around 280,000) compared to registered ones (about 25,000), with support coordination costs exceeding $1.65 billion without clear participant outcomes, posing risks to scheme sustainability.
Immigration agents, some banned for misconduct, have been able to register as NDIS providers and allegedly defraud the scheme. Reports include billions for non-essential activities such as holidays and entertainment, and concerns that resources are diverted from those with genuine needs.
Some former prisoners receive large NDIS payments, how is this possible?
The scheme is not means-tested, allowing wealthy individuals to access funds, with some participants receiving over a million dollars and potential double-dipping with insurance payouts.
Wages under NDIS can be claimed up to $195 per hour, much higher than typical wages for similar services, contributing to inflated costs and sucking away providers from other important industries like aged care and veterans services.
The collapse of providers has left millions in unpaid debts, with concerns about foreign students improperly registering as service providers and sending money overseas without paying taxes.
@DrewPavlou and @PeteZogoulas, as private individuals, are effectively doing the government’s job by independently investigating NDIS providers alleged to be defrauding taxpayers.
Contrast their efforts—undertaken with limited resources and self‑funding—with the government's inaction. Despite extensive departmental resources, authorities have failed to adequately address widespread fraud that is visible and well known within the community.
That's why the Senate must establish this inquiry into NDIS fraud, waste and abuse or the severely disabled who are in genuine need will end up worse off.

On the first day, God created the dog and said, "Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years."
The dog said, "That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I'll give you back the other ten?"
And God saw it was good.
On the second day, God created the monkey and said, "Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you a twenty-year life span."
The monkey said, "Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the dog did?"
And God, again saw it was good.
On the third day, God created the cow and said, "You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years."
The cow said, "That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?"
And God agreed it was good.
On the fourth day, God created humans and said, "Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you twenty years."
But the human said, "Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?"
"Okay," said God, "You asked for it."
So that is why for our first twenty years, we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves.
For the next forty years, we slave in the sun to support our family.
For the next ten years, we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren.
And for the last ten years, we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.
Life has now been explained 😁

Curiosities of scientific research: If you think your work is useless — remember the Swedish Navy.
In the 1980s, Swedish naval hydroacoustic systems were picking up suspicious signals that were identified as the noise of Soviet submarines. Search teams spent months trying to find evidence of an intrusion, but without success.
After the collapse of the USSR and the end of the Cold War, the mysterious signals continued. So the Swedish authorities sent a research team to investigate what was going on.
In 1996, Professor Magnus Wahlberg conducted a study and discovered that the sound was produced by herring — when their swim bladder compresses, excess gas is released through the anal canal in the form of air bubbles. This acoustic pattern is unique and found only in herring.
For 15 years, Swedish naval forces were, well… listening to herring farting.

Big price rises from steel suppliers to drive up housing costs.
Suppliers of steel products used in construction lifted their prices by up to 15% over the past three weeks and have warned of further increases because of soaring fuel costs, in an ominous sign of rapidly spiralling inflation for the industry and home builders.
