@dorfman_p Then to fully convert my modest 2 bed semi off fossils altogether would cost at today's prices just over £25k. It's already properly insulated & has MVHR
The point is that while I'm an ardent supporter of renewables, they're only part of the diversity of base & load the UK needs
English

University of Oxford : maximising oil and gas extraction here would only save UK households up to £82 (€95) per year. A UK fully powered by renewable energy, would save households up to £441 (€510) a year on energy bills.

@dorfman_p That's nice dear. Like most automobile drivers in the UK, my BMW 2 series doesn't run on renewable electricity & scrapping / replacing it with an equivalent EV would cost about £50k but would also mean I can't do my current role & would have to take a drop in pay of about £25k pa

@Andy76948 @martindvz But yet the liar Gove “we’ve had enough of experts” is his expert?
English

@Wakethefitup I don't call it any of those things, and yes I don't doubt there were a lot of decent folk on the get together
However, there didn't appear to be any love for the UK or its people & not a single union jack or union member nation flag
Decent? I'm unconvinced
English

You can call it 'woke' or 'snowflake' or 'PC gone mad' but I think 'decent human being' covers it better. The fact that being concerned & empathetic to the plight & welfare of others is seen as bad, is why society is so broken. The Far-Right won't fight for you but the Left will.

Huge crowds of up to 500,000 march in London to protest against the Far Right.
English

@bottomley50 Ok, I'll keep it as simple as is appropriate for the tinfoil hat wearing bedwetters
Assume 1 million on the march. Plus another 5 million who would've been there if they & supported it
6 million
The other 60 odd million of us don't give a single solitary fuck

English

@SocialistHB @UKTogetherAll Blarting stupid & untrue statements just hands another vote to the swivel eyed rightarses
Immigrants did not build the NHS. What they did though was come to the UK under invitation & make a priceless contribution to its running for which we should be grateful
English

@narindertweets I've heard it was 3 million
Anyway, I'll note that there's little in the media about it. Mostly because the overwhelming majority of people in the UK (& not just the reviled white working class) have far more pressing priorities than joining an increasingly sinister movement
English

Any mention of the 500,000 who marched against the rise of the far-right and racism yesterday in London on ##bbclaurak or Trevor Phillips this morning?
Or have they just ignored it?
English

@premnsikka Hmm. If it all goes tits up and we're on day 24 of no gas then that 36 days (?) will have appeared worth it
English

Hundreds of North Sea licences granted by UK Tory Govt between 2010 and 2024 produced only 36 days of gas.
Tories, Reform selling fantasy of endless gas reserves.
Energy security needs more investment in renewables, nuclear, better insulated homes.

@KeithGray2020 So were Cameron, Clegg, May & Truss
It's a British media thing
English

Gordon Brown got bullied and ridiculed.
Ed Milliband got bullied and ridiculed.
Jeremy Corbyn got bullied and ridiculed.
Sir Keir Starmer is getting bullied and ridiculed.
Don't know about anyone else, but I'm seeing a pattern. 🤔

@Heccles94 Firstly, there's no genocide
Secondly, when the Palestinians stop causing bloodshed, chaos & murder everywhere they go then I'll stand up for them
Until then fuck it
English

I’m sorry, but this is a ridiculous state of affairs.
Arresting people for holding a sign is fascistic.
End this madness.

@BruceUnfiltered When the government came out with the idiot statement last week about forecourt profiteering, I just sat & shook me head at the blatant hypocrisy of it all
The winner is...HM Treasury & if they gave a single solitary fuck they'd waive some tax temporarily
Fat fucking chance
English

This image says it all.
Top image: what you actually pay.
Bottom image: what fuel could cost without tax and VAT.
Unleaded shown at 143.9p becomes 67.0p.
Diesel shown at 166.8p becomes 86.1p.
That tells you exactly how much of the pain at the pump is government-loaded cost.
And then they wonder why people feel like they’re being robbed.

English

@paulpottsmusic @Good_Old_Blakey @BruceUnfiltered @tonymc42 I've looked into this over the years & I can't see a correlation wherein aid prevents or even reduces conflict
Indeed in Africa aid has fuelled almost a regression in terms of development
I'd recommend a read of Dambissa Moyo's book "Dead Aid" which articulates the matter

Reform used claims of 'family voting' in Gorton and Denton to argue the election was stolen.
Media outlets jumped on those claims, fanning anti-Muslim bigotry as they did so.
The police investigated the claims - and found no evidence to support them.

@MiddleEastEye 500,000? 1,000,000? 10,000,000?
Sort your fucking lives out
The only difference between the 3 figures is the uplift in intensity of the smell of piss, weed, BO & weeping bedsores

Over one million protesters took to the London streets in what is believed to be the largest anti-far-right and pro-Palestine demonstration in British history.
Organised by the Palestine Coalition, the "Together for Palestine – Stop Bombing Iran" march is protesting the ongoing war while showing continued solidarity with the Palestinian people.
In a historic show of unified opposition, the anti-war demonstrators are joining forces with a major UK rally against the far right, coordinated by the Together Alliance.
English

@Heccles94 @jeremycorbyn Er, shouldn't that read "No man has done more to illustrate that publicly funded politicians can trash-mouth the UK while cavorting with terrorists from here to Vladivostok like $20 hoe while still sucking on the British public's cashcock
English

No man has done more for the British left that this man. Love and solidarity always @jeremycorbyn

English

@johnmcdonnellMP @UKTogetherAll 500,000? About a 5th at the most
2 ex colleagues who have stridently held views about the USA & Israel attended this for a short period & left in disgust at the anti Jewish, anti UK & vile terrorist supporting shit they witnessed
Remind me again who are the vile fascists?
English

This march was huge, beyond all our expectations. A display of solidarity across communities. So proud to have been part of it from the first thoughts of launching this initiative. Massive success. We now have to build on it. @UKTogetherAll
Together Alliance@UKTogetherAll
Today, we’re showing up. For our neighbours. Our friends. Our family. And anyone who has been scapegoated by the far-right. Half a million strong. Together. This is just the beginning. #Together
