EXPLOSIVE UPDATE: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Saturday reported that the sample from food supplier Taylor Farms, which supplies the Taco Bell food chain, had tested positive for cyclospora. It said on Sunday that it had re-reviewed the sample and reported the false-positive to Taylor Farms. This does NOT mean cyclospora is not a threat. It means the exact source of the parasite is still not known. That's worse. No deaths have been reported from cyclosporiasis infections so far, but at least 94 people have been hospitalised. Cyclosporiasis is an illness you get from the parasite Cyclospora cayetanensis. It causes watery, and sometimes explosive, diarrhea and other stomach problems. It usually spreads from contaminated water or food. Stay safe.
