THE TRUTH ABOUT NEW JERSEY: It was a glitch. These individuals did not try to register to vote as U.S. citizens. When they applied for driver’s licenses or state IDs, they correctly identified themselves as non-citizens. The problem was the state’s Motor Vehicle Commission system. A software glitch overrode their non-citizen status and mistakenly added them to the voter rolls. A government data processing failure, not a scheme by non-citizens to register to vote.
