People are comparing Eli Stowers to the wrong TE’s who “can’t block.” They want you to think he’ll have his routes limited “like Dalton Kincaid.” When the reality is he’s much more in the mold of a Kyle Pitts or Juwan Johnson (WR playing TE). You can almost GUARANTEE a team is going to give him 75%+ route participation if they draft him in RD2 – considering they’re drafting him strictly to catch passes, not block. Kyle Pitts ranked 103rd out of 109 TE’s in Run-Blocking Grade last year. Yet Pitts was 2nd in route-participation (86.2%) – Trey McBride was the only TE who ran a higher percentage of his team’s routes. Juwan Johnson ranked 8th in route-participation (74.6%) – despite ranking 95th out of 109 TE’s in Run-Blocking Grade. Eli Stowers falls into a similar bucket & while people want you to believe he’s destined to “only be a part-time player” – the opposite is true. He’s almost guaranteed to have one of the highest route participations amongst TE’s considering he’ll be drafted strictly to catch passes – not block.
