His Excellency, President @HassanSMohamud received Ms. Mama Keita of UNECA and Mr. George Conway, the UN Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General (DSRSG), along with international experts at the State House today. The discussions focused on the third and final phase of the Centennial Vision 2060 (CV2060) development process, Somalia's strategic blueprint for achieving upper-middle-income status by 2060.
The President emphasized that CV2060 will serve as the foundation for the National Transformation Plan and subsequent medium-term and sectoral plans until 2060. Also in attendance were members of the National Economic Council of Somalia.

Today was the launch of the Conservative Party manifesto - the day when the Prime Minister revealed his policy platform if he's granted another five years in office.
He's 20pts behind in the polls... he needed a game changing moment.
There were cuts to national insurance... including scrapping the main rate of self employed national insurance completely.
A promise to halve immigration... 1.6 million new homes... the introduction of national service for young people.
But here's the thing. Taken individually... these policies I'm sure poll well and are popular among the voters they're trying to win over. But I can't work out what the story is. The narrative of the campaign.
Remember other Conservative campaign successes - levelling up - get Brexit done - even the austerity narrative that got David Cameron elected in 2010. You'll have your own opinion about whether they were the right narratives or even if they were truthful ones - but they were cohesive stories about why people should vote for them.
It's a bit like Rishi Sunak is focusing too much on the maths, and not enough on the poetry, of the election.
Because great campaigners are really at their heart, great storytellers.
And honestly? I'm not sure what Rishi Sunak's story is yet.

@BusogaInformed @cobbo3 @The_EastAfrican @NationMediaGrp Actually a lot of the businesses where ‘super-profits’ are being made are African owned - for instance, East African Breweries/SAB Miller (although it is true SAB Miller was acquired by a Belgium multinational in 2016, high levels of profitability in the sector far predate that).

Beer Is 50% More Profitable in Africa, And Other Crazy Numbers From A New Book on the Continent’s Fortunes
The next issue of the .@The_EastAfrican is being distributed early this week in Gaborone, Botswana, where .@NationMediaGrp is holding the 5th Kusi Ideas Festival Dec. 7-8. The editors pushed us hard to get copy in nearly a week early.
For the issue, I found inspiration previewing a forthcoming book, “Borderless Africa: A Sceptic’s Guide to the Continental Free Trade Area”, by Francis Mangeni and Andrew Mold. It does a wonderful job shattering prejudices about intra-African trade, and pointing to pots of gold for those who seize the opportunities already provided by economic integration in regional blocs like the East African Community (EAC), and the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
In one of the many head-turning nuggets of data, they point out that eliminating mobile roaming charges between Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda in the EAC’s “One-Area Network” agreement of 2014, led to an increase in inbound roaming calls between Kenya and Rwanda of over 950% in the first few months.
Also, that beer is 50% more profitable in Africa than elsewhere on Earth – partly as a result of closed markets and lack of competition (hence the title of the article, “Beer is 50% more profitable in Africa than elsewhere. This is the drunkard’s song”). Usually, folks will ask where they can get the book. It’s coming out in February 2024. On my part, I am pre-ordering on Amazon.
