@CreightonLange @BrennanCenter The last reauthorization that Trump is mentioning, was actually signed by Biden, so if they are hyper-partisan left-wing, then it's actually even worse than they wrote. The reality is that Trump flip-flopped, he was against it when Biden signed it, and now he's for it.

Terrible, and also misleading because the "Common Sense Reforms" actually expanded the scope of surveillance without meaningful safeguards. Here's what actually happened during the "reforms" in the last reauthorization: brennancenter.org/our-work/analy…

@ProtonMail @smstelegram @durov @andyyen Did Telegram stop accepting ProtonMail emails for login? Every time I enter my ProtonMail address, I never receive OTPs, while other emails work fine. I also had an account with ProtonMail as the login email, but I lost access to it.. 1/n

The IRGC has found a new method to hide its forces and move around the city. Basijis and clerics are cosplaying as members of Red Crescent society. Infamous terrorist Hamid Alimi who played a role in January massacare is seen in this video alongside a mullah.

@DoctorWarface @ProtonPrivacy I think the hybrid structure is explained quite well on the blog post here: proton.me/blog/proton-no… Swiss foundations are not obligated to publish financials, and we don't do it to prevent adversaries from understanding Proton's level of resourcing, but we publicize all grants.

Meta let an AI agent handle sensitive user data, leading to a major internal security event. The error came as a result of an engineer implementing code on the bad advice given to them by the AI agent. How is Meta defending itself? "a human could also give erroneous advice."

Oh no I made a mistake, Proton doesn't support IMAP, this is a real deal breaker for me. Guess it's time to revert my DNS settings. @andyyen I hope you guys change the ways Proton Mail works in the future, the privacy aspect shouldn't be a road blocker.

I have been enthusiastically migrating from google workspace to @ProtonPrivacy but hit the first road block, the Proton Mail App doesn't support mail accounts from other providers which is something the GMail App does. Now I have to find a third party mail client solution 🫤

Wtf @andyyen? Proton Pass blocked me because I criticized Google-manufactured pixel devices. Marauder Magazine has endorsed Proton in the past and is currently writing an article about big tech and, praising Proton for challenging silicon valley giants like Google. Wtf tho?!

@ProtonMail @andyyen I’ve been a paying Proton customer for years. In October 2025, my account was suspended after my device was compromised by malware (confirmed by Apple). Instead of helping me recover my account, Proton locked me out of everything — personal emails…

Fun fact: People have downloaded 93,256,100 terabytes, or 93,256 petabytes (PB) worth of war crimes footage from our proton drive links alone. This does not including torrents. A lot of people are seeing what Israel did. Thanks to @ProtonDrive for allowing this.

I've been vocally critic of @ProtonMail. Exposure of them doxing a user today made me rethink how we can use the leaps in cryptography to achieve truly private email without changing SMTP. We did it. Provably private mail is coming. No more single point of failure. 🫡💛

@AndroidPolice @ProtonPrivacy @andyyen Regarding past payments, do you still keep the card info from those transactions so that even if I unbind my card now and switch to crypto, you can still provide the card details from the old records to allow the government to track the account holder?

I mean, you’re meant to share your email with others. In this case I believe it was even used as a web administrator public email. So the general assumption for a Proton customer should be that if they pay for your services, have their email public, they have no privacy? Mullvad already figured this out. Just allow a non-recurring option where users can buy year long packages and remove credit card information after 30 days (dispute period). Why won’t you accept XMR despite large demand? If you claim “compliance”, that’s hilarious. I also never claimed you gave data to the FBI. I said you doxed a customer, what I didn’t say, but is ultimately true, is that it could’ve been avoided entirely, subpoena or no (again, see Mullvad subpoenas). How are you able to designate spam emails if you’re not reading ingest? I think we already got the answer, it’s because you read emails, and we have to trust that any non-Proton inbound is discarded, always, but there’s already been a case where you’ve implemented logging for a specific user (since you can), specifically a French activist in 2021.

@AEscher1291 @ProtonDrive @ProtonPrivacy @ProtonSupport This is ridiculous. We don't necessarily support every position ever taken by every org we support. For the record, Proton also financially supported the no campaign for e-ID, and also the legal challenge against the vote results: x.com/andyyen/status…
Andy Yen@andyyen

e-ID passed in Switzerland by around 20'000 votes. Had we emailed our users in Switzerland, NO could have won, but we didn't want to interfere with the democratic process. However, state-owned companies interfered by funding the YES campaign. Calls for a new vote are justifiable.

Proton supports an organization that advocates for Digital ID and platform regulation. @ProtonPrivacy makes money with VPNs that are used to circumvent mandatory identification on the internet and platform regulation. They are brilliant businesspeople.😅

So Signal, which much of Europe also relies upon, apparently runs on AWS, which is not great from a tech sovereignty standpoint. An European alternative not run on Big Tech cloud will be necessary to safeguard strategic autonomy.

@gogokikaider All our apps use an API of course, but we haven't exactly documented it for public usage. We want to do it eventually but right now our focus is elsewhere. For wallet, it will stay BTC only for now, but we could reassess this in the future.

@andyyen hi - long *long* time Proton turbo nerd here, using all seven services (see below) & love your mission; two questions: 1) do you have APIs for any of these services - particularly Drive/Mail/Cal ? I’m working in stealth with a well known team on a hybrid web2/web3 “onchain Zapier” of sorts, I’d really love to explore integrating Proton tech.! 2) what’s the longer term plan for Wallet? Any chance of EVM support/some foray into the ether-lands? please keep up the amazing work!

@c477bfef6df4311 @aigarsdz Not disputing that, but the size of that "economy" is much smaller and would be reflected in a much lower bitcoin price compared to the price if bitcoin were the preferred way of playing the debasement trade. Recent price action is a reflection of that reality.

The problem for #bitcoin isn't that the debasement trade is wrong, it's just no longer the best asset class. Gold (the original) now has higher speculative returns with better downside protection. Recovery will be tough until this dynamic changes.
