Putin’s latest visit to China ended in a complete failure as gas pipeline talks collapsed China has frozen negotiations with Russia over the Power of Siberia 2 pipeline. According to The Wall Street Journal, during Vladimir Putin’s most recent visit to Beijing, Chinese officials asked the Russian delegation not to raise the issue of the project again until the terms of the deal change. The newspaper reports that Beijing is willing to sign the contract only if Russia agrees to supply gas at domestic Russian prices — a condition Moscow considers economically unacceptable. The proposed price is around $50 per 1,000 cubic meters, far below Russia’s export rates.

This situation feels somewhat ironic, as Hyundai Heavy Industries is scheduled to build new submarines for the Peruvian Navy. ● Although Hanwha Ocean was eliminated from Canada's CPSP, I hope there will be many business with Hanwha Aerospace, LIG, and Hyundai Rotem in Canada's future ground equipment, long-range air defense, strike and aerospace programs. ● While it is true that South Korea is currently constructing and deploying its second Aegis destroyer class, the DDG-II (KDX-III Batch-II), it also intends to acquire more destroyers through the KDDX program. To briefly explain for those unfamiliar, the KDDX is a new class of ship being added to the Navy, similar to the DDG-II. It has a full displacement of over 9,000 tons, which is lighter than the DDG-II's 12,000-ton full displacement, and a total of six vessels are scheduled to be built. It is characterized by a floating radar pyramid-like shape and features an extremely powerful radar, sonar, power system, combat system, and KVLS-II to carry heavy class missiles. ● As the KSS-N has already been covered several times, I will omit it here.
