@NorfolkNats @rogerqskeen @andymus1 I suspect Athalia codata. A sude view ould help clinch identity. It's recorded in our area.
English

@NorfolkNats is it possible to identify this Sawfly to species? My thoughts are Athalia liberta? Thanks as usual.

Heacham, England 🇬🇧 English

@xylota @RyanM_Sussex @andymus1 @ecology_digest A different species, but I swept numerous Acrocera orbiculus from tall grass on the seaward side of a sea wall in the SE corner of The Wash in late June 2020. Quite un-fly like and motionless in bottom of net on capture.
English

Species 7,615: Ogcodes pallipes (Black-rimmed Hunchback), a new family of flies for me (Acroceridae). A spider parasitoid. One of several nice critters found at Elmley this week with @ecology_digest

English

@Bill_Sutherland Indeed so. It's not to hand so I can't check details, but I recall excerpts from some quite vivid descriptions of near-pristine estuaries and near-shore waters.
English

@AndyinNorfolk Thanks Andy. Is there much about estuaries in addition to the sea? Think I have a copy at work.
English

@AmiesPhilip Hi Phil. I have a list of the 171 taxa formally assessed as Globally Extinct or Regionally Extinct in Great Britain. I'll email it to you later. I'll include the 44 addional taxa either Extinct in the Wild or Critically Endangered (presumed extinct) in GB.

loads of Pointed Snail shells found on Holkham dunes today. According to NBN atlas, Holkham is only Norfolk site. Is that really the case ? @NorfolkNats @rob_yaxley @AndyinNorfolk

@Theodec97 @Argyllbirder @Nadair_Thiriodh @Tireebirder @BirdGuides @RareBirdAlertUK @TarsigerTeam @Nature_Scotland Wow. Top marks Theo!

YELLOW WARBLER!! Finding an 8th for Britain was not on the agenda for me and David Jardine on #Tiree today!
The shock when this bright yellow beauty popped out of a sycamore in front of me I dont think i'll ever forget!

English

@AbrehartEco @NHarnser @NaturalEngland @nationaltrust It might not be too long before a big tide dumps it all back in the gardens and houses it came from.
English

@NHarnser @AndyinNorfolk @NaturalEngland @nationaltrust I've seen this too, I guess they think a big tide will take it away, then not their issue.. nice...
Or just not care....
English

@Sibthorpia Blimey. That was quick. Maybe I should grumble more often than I do😀
English

@AndyinNorfolk Planning permission has been granted for the replacement of the boardwalk today apparently!
English

@Bill_Sutherland @stevedudley_ This info also in species accounts for all of Jim Wheeler's County websites
English

@stevedudley_ Thanks Steve, sounds great. I wonder if there is a Suffolk equivalent or is your excel sheet for UK?
English

@Bill_Sutherland You can see all your results in table yes. And download as excel spreadsheet. See live feed of everyone's entries. Recent notables and rarities on far right.
English

@AndyinNorfolk Thanks Andy, can you then see all my results in a table with totals etc? This is a great site.
English

@Bill_Sutherland The Suffolk Moths (with sister sites for Norfolk, Cambs etc) are just about the finest wildlife websites for any taxon. Note especially the 'flying tonight" option under arrivals tab to sort entire database by frequency if records around your chosen day. A great ID aid.
English

@NHarnser @VannaBartlett1 @Norwichbirder It would make a fine - if slightly alarming - Arachnological Society lapel badge.
English

@NHarnser @VannaBartlett1 @Norwichbirder Oh, and mid summer too...this one from Roydon 26th August 2022.

English

@NHarnser @VannaBartlett1 @Norwichbirder Mid-winter seems to be a good time to spot the adults wandering the sandy heathland tracks. These were at Dersingham 29th Feb 2020 a d Roydon 1st Jan 2022.
