@David__Osland And who can win an election. Which rules out Taynor and Miliband. With Burnham unable To run, welcome PM Carns.

Labour needs a leader who doesn't hate the party's core voters. I'm not sure either Streeting or Starmer is that guy.

@BenObeseJecty @adamboultonTABB Given the options available I’d say Al Carns is probably the best alternative PM Labour has. Excellent communicator, done a great job as Armed Forces Minister and unsullied by association. If Labour want to show a new dynamic leader to the public, they should call on Al.

Prediction: Al Carns drops out of the leadership contest once his profile is sufficiently raised, cutting a deal with whoever looks most likely to win in return for becoming their Defence Secretary. If I were John Healey I’d be very worried about my position…
Larisa Brown@larisamlbrown

EXCLUSIVE: Al Carns WILL join the race to become PM if there is a contest. A parliamentary source told @thetimes "Al Carns has said ‘he is getting on with doing his job, but if someone fires the starting gun, he isn’t afraid of gunfire’." They said the implication was Carns "would throw his hat in the ring should someone trigger a race"

There’s a touch of the ‘Portillos’ about Wes Streeting at the moment.

The Brexit Derangement Syndrome is off the scale at the moment. Reform (formerly known as the BREXIT PARTY) just swept to victory across working class areas. Response? Oh, it’s obviously time to rejoin the EU… Do these people even believe in democracy?

@Andyndee @TikiTakaConnor They’re not better at it, though. They’re shit at diving. You can see them diving. Everyone sees them diving. The refs just give them the calls anyway.

@AlistairCarns hi there. If this all goes down tomorrow I sincerely hope you are thinking of throwing your hat in the ring.

If a decision made by VAR could reasonably be different depending on which official is considering it, then VAR has no business getting involved - the referee is there to make these calls.

@OllieHolt22 Arsenal have had goals given under worse situations than that this season. This is corruption of sorts. Mob the referee, challenge everything and you’ll get your way.

It was a foul on David Raya. VAR made the correct decision. VAR is a terrible way to decide a game of this magnitude for both teams. All these things can be true at the same time.

@piersmorgan This Arsenal team really do represent everything that is wrong with modern football. A horrible team to watch, they constantly cheat, whine, mob the ref - I sincerely hope they are humiliated by PSG. Rice looked ashamed at the end of that game. Sat on his own with his head bowed.

Labour MPs are too cowardly to remove the worst PM in living memory, and because of their cowardice, we’re getting fascism in three years.

@PhilipProudfoot @mehdirhasan It doesn’t stop facism. It ends up putting them into power in some back room deal. FPTP is not a perfect system by any means but it does tend to keep the more extreme elements out of Downing Street. And it will do so again.

@Heccles94 These are the most important statistics of the whole thing. The next election will be about stopping Reform. Whatever it takes. And we easily have the numbers on our side.
