Labour risks looking unserious and inward-looking at a time of huge global challenge and instability - and risks compromising so much of the sheer hard work to be electable again after the long post-2010 years.

BREAKING The Prime Minister told a meeting of the Cabinet: “As I said yesterday, I take responsibility for these election results and I take responsibility for delivering the change we promised. “The past 48 hours have been destabilising for government and that has a real economic cost for our country and for families. “The Labour Party has a process for challenging a leader and that has not been triggered. “The country expects us to get on with governing. That is what I am doing and what we must do as a Cabinet.” Ends

We rightly criticised the Tories for plunging this country into chaos time and time again with endless leadership contests. Labour should not do the same.

The election results were devastating, and the Prime Minister has rightly taken responsibility for them.
But the last 48 hours have been damaging to the country and our party.
The Prime Minister is right to get on with the job. That is what the country expects of all of us.
It is clear we have work to do to rebuild our relationship with the country and with our supporters. The Prime Minister and all of us in government should take this summer as an opportunity to reflect and to listen to voices from across our country, especially young people.

The British mainstream media has worked as a group to undermine and destabilise Keir Starmer ever since his election because the people who fund the media feared and hated him.
This is not random but a coordinated, well funded coup d'état in plain sight.
