@herrmanndigital Let’s invent a bunch of features that literally undo every possible setting actually defined by the advertiser.

Waaaaay too many advertisers still treating branded search like it's actually valuable and not just artificially inflating their metrics.

@Peter_Quadrel NCMER has been known as aMER for a while. Definitely the better metric to follow for ads along with nCAC (new customer acquisition cost - measured by taking all ad spend and dividing by new customer orders only). nCAC vs spend is also a key chart to watch.

MER is lying to you about marketing performance. Total Revenue / Total Spend blends everything together. You’re averaging $200 new customer acquisition with $20 retargeting. Then calling it “efficiency.” That’s useless. Here’s what to track instead: NCMER (New Customer MER) New Customer Revenue / New Customer Ad Spend On Meta: Use exclusion audiences + breakdown feature to isolate new customer spend. On Google: Target new customers only, define existing. Not perfect. But 10x more accurate than blended MER. RCMER (Returning Customer MER) Returning Customer Revenue / Returning Customer Ad Spend Now you can see if retargeting actually works. Or if it’s just cannibalizing organic repeat purchases. CMER (Contribution Margin Efficiency Ratio) (Revenue - All Variable Costs) / Total Marketing Spend Variable costs = COGS + fulfillment + credit card fees + shipping. The king metric. Shows real dollars after costs. Reactivating customers should be 2-10x more efficient than acquisition. MER completely hides this. Stop reporting blended metrics in 2026. Start reporting NCMER, RCMER, and CMER separately. Give your team actual visibility into what’s working.

@herrmanndigital TikTok Ads Manager flat out does not work on Firefox. It took me too long to realize this before I started using Chrome. It’s still slow as heck and makes me want to pull my hair out.

I tried duplicating 15 ads on TikTok into another ad set. I guess TikTok didn't like that.

@codyplof If you really want to see what it can do, use Claude Flow. It automates the creation of a fleet of agents that report into a hive mind to complete your tasks. It puts Claude Code on steroids.

I’ve been using it since it came out. I also really like using Claude Flow, which turns Claude Code into an agentic hive mind on steroids: claude-flow.ruv.io Claude Flow is actually great for way more than just code but it really unlocks new possibilities not baked into CC. I helped run production for a private demo for NVIDIA execs months ago and they were very excited about it.

@rokhladnik The best is when you run an ad set with only Stories placements so you can force the viewer to watch 3 cards in a row.

Meta is way more stable in December vs September, October and November. Most of our brands had great performance in the first half of the month. One thing I’m seeing again in some ad accounts: Sunday budget overspend. Some campaigns are spending ~40% over the daily budget. Anyone else noticing this?

@binghott Totally dependent on AOV, TAM, and product-market-fit. AOV is probably the biggest one. Clients with 0.5% CVR are totally sustainable with an AOV of $500 but under $100 usually needs to be >3%.

If you know your website's conversion rate and hear another website has a higher conversion rate, does that matter? Does comparing your site's CVR to another's matter at all?

I’ve seen the original Avatar once when it came out in theaters. I didn’t see the second, and really have no plans to see the third. Am I alone in this? It looks gorgeous but the story seems so meh to me.
