A7 I think the discourse and connections made during routines are what make them successful. Plus, the low floor high ceiling responses allow for everyone to feel successful and be more confident to take risks #ElemMathChat

A6 the sum is 8 1/3. I know because I took 1/3 from 4 2/3 to make 11/3 12/3 which is 4. So now 4 + 4 1/3 = 8 1/3 #ElemMathChat

A3 I think it is important to give students independent think time before sharing. I also think using discussion stems and hand signals helps students stay engaged and respond to each other. #ElemMathChat

Q4 The student is comfortable with the ten frame representation and using it to count on nine 9 times. I wonder if they were counting on for all of the problems.#elemmathchat

A3 I wonder if the squares above were 2+2+2+2+2+2 and if the student is ready to relate the repeated addition to multiplication. #elemmathchat

Q2Assessment is what we are constanting doing when observing students' understanding of skills. We do it to inform our teaching. Some might believe assessment is only paper pencil tests, but I hope we can move past only paper pencil assessments #elemmathchat

K-5 math coach, central Illinois. My year is good. The more I learn, the more I wished I was taught math with more concrete models and less mimicking algorithms. #Elemmathchat
