Anarchists have been written out of history by Marxists and things Anarchists did in the past, others took credit for. The Haymarket stuff is always red washed and even things during the Russian revolution. There's always been attempts to erase Anarchists from history.

I wrote a thread about this a couple of years ago but there is no evidence Mao was an anarchist or anarchist aligned. There is one biography that mentions it but its own reference doesn't corroborate that. All we have is Mao in his youth referencing Kropotkin once in an essay
