@Botany2021 Thanks for that. Great pointer. I'm not sure it's cordata as the fruit looks more like microcarpa.

I've been a member of @WKWT for 34 yrs, often working closely with it professionally & an an amateur recorder to support it, generating much reserve data. Just been told I need permission to continue insect recording (I already had it) & must fill out RA paperwork for EACH visit.

Psychoda are tiny (3-4mm) true flies (Diptera) known as Drain flies or Moth flies. I was finding plenty of these yesterday under bits of deadwood, presumably overwintering queens? @flygirlNHM #Winterwatch

The Diptera list for Union Wood, Co Sligo is coming together. The current total is 425 species starting from spring 2022. Top groups so far: 137 - Fungus Gnats 68 - Hoverflies 45 - Craneflies 37 - Empids Plenty of gaps to fill Dolichopodids and Muscids the focus next year.

@GeoffWilkinso19 When I think of bird dropping mimics I always think of the chinese character moth (Cilix glaucata). Not just the colouring but also the way it sits.
