Everything you need to know about the GENDER-SWAPPED "Burbs" remake:
Tom Hanks is now a black woman named "Samira."
Carrie Fisher is now a WHITE British man named "Rob."
Together they have a mixed-race baby SON who's there for apparently no reason…
…except to give Samira the chance to talk about her “leaky nipples” every five minutes.
Samira also has a GAY brother.
And her WHITE husband Rob has an Indian best friend/co-worker named Naveen.
Naveen's wife has left him.
At one point, Naveen tells Rob “you are raising a black son,” like he just recited the cure for cancer.
Rob and Samira also have a lesbian ex-marine neighbor.
You know she’s a lesbian because she makes sure to say "my wife" during their first conversation.
The guy with the shitty dog from the original movie is now the FEMALE head of the Homeowners Association.
All the white people in the neighborhood go out of their way to seem enlightened and make Samira feel welcomed and appreciated.
And of course, the villain is a creepy white guy who everyone calls RACIST for reporting a BLACK WOMAN trespassing on his property.
And the cops are racist too, because they show up to arrest Samira for trespassing.
There’s also a black girl babysitter who lists Michelle Obama as a reference.
And the black and brown characters never stop reminding you that RACISM EXISTS.
And this is just the first episode.
I'll let you know if I make it any further.

@OliLondonTV I never understood why anyone would want a celebrity autograph unless it would have tremendous value in the future. Most won't so why bother.

@BadgedPatriot I got pulled over for speeding in TN last year. Cop asked me if I had any weapons in my truck. I said I did. He said " for your protection and mine please give it to me. I'll give it back when we're done". I handed it to him in the correct way. I got my ticket and was on my way.

A previous post turned in to an all out meltdown on guns. For clarification, here is the law in Tennessee:
For handguns, constitutional carry. You can carry loaded open or concealed without a permit.
Long guns/rifles, can be carried openly but CANNOT be loaded. Ammo CAN NOT be anywhere nearby. That means nowhere you can grab it to load it. If you do, its a crime.👮♂️🚔
English

@atensnut She was being polite at first. Unfortunately the tow truck was already there. If she would have answered the door when the cop knocked it probably would have turned out okay
English

@LangmanVince The group dropped the "Dixie" a few years ago and are now "The Chicks". So they've become Chicks without Dix.
Oink!🐷

@alphafox I was a pipe welder in a boiler shop in the 70's and 80's. Orbital welding is not anything new

@JakeCan72 Buc-ee's it's just a pain in the butt people park next to a gas pump like it's a parking lot and go in and shop for an hour. I used to stop there all the time but now it's just not worth it
English

People started driving hours for a gas station.
Buc-ee’s is now pushing into seven new states. No advertising. People kept showing up. Then the locations followed.
The Texas chain built its reputation on one thing — the standard never slipped. Staff that acted like the job mattered to them. Someone still looked up when you walked in. Americans detoured for it.
People didn’t drive an hour for gas. They drove because the place still felt normal. The bathrooms were clean at 2 a.m. and somebody actually looked you in the eye when you paid.
Seven states didn’t come from a marketing department. People told their friends. That was enough.
They kept the bathrooms clean and built an empire. The standard never moved.
What’s the last place near you that still feels normal?

@RonDeSantis These lists are dumb. Another magazine could pick different bands. All depends on taste in music.

Can't @amazon find delivery workers who can even speak a little english? A driver just came into the manager office with a package delivery. I asked more than once "what apartment" and all he could do was point to his phone screen. What a bunch of crap.

@Milajoy Nobody slowed down to look at me either. I now have PTSD and am a shadow of my former self.

Always check with @grok Fact-checks confirm the document and bill are a hoax with no matching legislation; similar satirical versions have circulated for other states.

@bighealer_sarah I was a landlord until I had a bad experience with a tenant. But, up until that time I never raised the rent on a tenant. If I have a good tenant, raise the rent and they move and it sits empty for a month or two it will take me a year or more to make up the difference.
English

I want to tell you a landlord story.
Once we paid first, last, and deposit, we had only that much left in the account. One of our kids was 4. One was 3 months old. We had one tradesman’s income to live on. The rent felt a little high but the house had 3 little bedrooms on a rural road, and it felt perfect. Our landlord was a local guy who’d gotten married to a woman who had higher aspirations than a 1000 square ft ranch from 1990.
He wanted us to treat it like our own and never move. When I was diagnosed with cancer that fall and the rent was late, he said to let that month go. For 12 years, he never raised our rent. He paid for anything that broke. He hired John to improve the house. When he finally raised the rent, he also offered to sell us the house without listing it. He said he’d realized he wasn’t ever coming back, and we cared for it.
There are landlords like that. But Black Rock is not. And if we let local governments abuse landlords, all the independents will sell and Black Rock will be all we have. Trust me, the big guys want *more* rules, and it will give young families fewer options.
Thank you Ted. You told us the day we signed that you were the world’s best landlord, and it was true.

@Gitmo99 When I was 3-4 years old my mother used to attach me to the clothesline in the back yard (shows my age) because I would wander. Kids can disappear in a few seconds. My family still teases me about it. You do what you can to keep your kids safe.

An Atlanta kindergarten teacher was fired after using a safety tether rope to keep 12 children together during a park field trip. A parent filmed the children "tied up" and accused the teacher of humiliation, leading to termination over school image concerns.
The incident sparked a debate, with some viewing the method as degrading and others arguing it was a necessary safety measure for young children in public. #HIAW 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

For the longest time I thought Marjorie Taylor Greene was the real deal. It turns out I got suckered by another sleazebag politician.
Kate@kate_p45
Must be nice. Get elected screaming “America First,” spend years insider trading your way to millions, while your own state was flooded with illegals and foreign workers. Then, because Trump wouldn’t endorse you for Senate, you quit on your constituents, flip to the radical left, protect the same people who kept the border open, prioritized illegals, and laundered our tax dollars. Now you’re running away to your $5 million mansion in Costa Rica, bought with the money you got selling out your own country, to live with your beta cuck fiance. Pathetic traitor.🤬

@MeriCarpenter99 @heidiklessigmd "How do you get hit by a car when mountain biking" Easy. Many mountains have roads
English

@heidiklessigmd How do you get hit by a car when mountain biking.
English

In 2015, Paul “PJ” Robinson Jr. was mountain biking when a car hit him from behind. Within 15 minutes of his arrival in the ER, the Organ Donor Network was contacted.
The neurosurgeon didn’t see PJ until 2 hours later, found no neurological function, and did not implement aggressive treatment since he believed PJ to be brain dead. But this proved not to be the case: PJ could still breathe on his own nearly a month later.
But since PJ’s overall prognosis was poor, doctors encouraged his parents to withdraw medical support and allow his heart to stop. After this, PJ could become donation after circulatory death (DCD) organ donor. Sadly, his parents agreed.
According to Paul Robinson Sr., this is what happened next:
“The morning of December 1, according to billing and medical records, PJ was given morphine, Ativan, and potassium chloride (a drug that, when used inappropriately, can slow or stop the heartbeat). There was no medically indicated reason to give PJ these drugs. For example, potassium chloride is used to treat low blood levels of potassium. PJ’s blood levels were normal. These drugs were administered without our consent or knowledge. I believe they were used to ensure that our son would not breathe when the ventilator was removed.
Paul ‘died’ in my arms as he struggled to breathe. I was told and believed my son was deceased. The expiration document stated, ‘Pt was pronounced dead at the bedside and then was taken to the OR for DCD.’
PJ was taken to the operating room around 7:40 PM. Records indicate that he received morphine at 8:05. Why would a dead man need morphine? He was given a blood transfusion at 8:35. Why? Additionally, two powerful pain medications, morphine and Fentanyl, as well as the anti-anxiety drug Ativan were not discontinued until 1:19 AM the next morning. The disturbing inference is that PJ’s circulatory system was still functioning and that he was resuscitated for the purpose of keeping his organs as healthy as possible for donation.
Marze and I are heartbroken at the loss of our precious son. He loved basketball and watched history and sci-fi programs on TV. He earned his living as a barber. He was a wonderful son and brother. PJ was a real person, not just a body to be harvested for organs.
I believe that, had he received timely, proper treatment, Paul Robinson, Jr. would probably still be alive. His story must be told and retold as a warning to others. Don’t be deceived when asked to donate a loved one’s organs. Say NO!”
I met Paul Robinson Sr. at a conference in 2024. He still passes out cards with PJ’s picture and story.

@AngryChuck74 @CasuallyGreg Minimum wage in Seattle is $21.30/hour and that includes servers who get tipped. It’s wild that we are supposed to tip for counter-service or a coffee. Servers at decent restaurants are wildly overpaid relative to other retail workers.
English

@CasuallyGreg Sometimes when I go through a drive-thru they hand the machine out the window and say "it's going to ask you a question". The question is how much of a tip. All for handing me something through a window.
English

@CasuallyGreg I have tip fatigue. I'm just about quit eating out anymore. In Florida tip wage is $10.98 going up $1 in September. A server even in a small restaurant is probably making $30 to $40 an hour which is a lot more than I make.
