@stuartg917 A huge influence. Laid the foundation for the the iconoclastic flavor of Australia’s Wheels magazine that so came to influence CAR. Of the 6 Aussies who edited CAR, all of us had worked on or for Wheels. I was honored to have followed in his footsteps at both magazines. RIP.

RIP Ian Fraser. Many will have read his work or been absorbed by one of his publications (CAR or Supercar Classics most likely), others owe their careers in this industry to him. Under his ownership CAR inspired, entertained and educated so many of us. A true publishing pioneer.

@BarelyStreetabl @MotorTrend Sure the Carrera GT makes a great noise and the 918 is stupid fast. But the 718 RS Spider is a much more complete driver’s car - better handling than the GT, and a purer, more joyous experience than the 918. More cylinders and more horsepower don’t always add up to a better car.

Let us not forget that in 1999 BMW offered to totally rebuild Longbridge and install the new Rover R30 if the gov gave £250m towards the £2bn investment. Blair and Co said no, and Rover was sold for £10.

@hiltonholloway When you don't own your industry, you pay bungs forever while the profits go offshore. Brexit makes Britain more reliant than before on giving foreign-owned carmakers handouts to entice them to stay. But when the money stops, they'll go - just like they did in Australia.

@ScottMBrownlee @henrymance We’re well past rehashing arguments & clearly now into into a sober assessment of the catastrophic damage to the UK caused by Brexit. “We need to make the best of it” falls decidedly short of the sunlit uplands nonsense fed to voters during the referendum campaign.

@Angus_MacK @henrymance I haven’t blamed anyone. I’ve suggested the tone of media coverage is probably a factor in the poll results because I’d rather see some informed debate, but bottom line is the UK is out of the EU and we need to make the best of it, not endlessly rehash old, failed arguments

@ScottMBrownlee @henrymance Brexit pros must indeed be very nuanced, complex and subtle, because as yet no-one seems to be able to cogently articulate any of them. And yes, blaming the media is the easy way out, but you know that.

@Angus_MacK @henrymance It could be that or it might be a more nuanced, complex and subtle mixture of pros and cons. The survey hasn’t sought to illuminate that. And yes, TV has far bigger reach and influence than print, but you know that.

@ScottMBrownlee @henrymance Of course it couldn’t possibly be that it actually is all pretty terrible, could it? Interesting, too, that you think the “London-based liberal-left media” is obviously way more influential than the Mail, the Express, and the Murdoch rags.

@henrymance Results also a reflection that those who supported Remain (not least London-based, liberal-left media) have never stopped banging on about how terrible it all is. Leavers, as in the run up to the vote itself, have been comparatively silent.

@RabbahRona The Polestar 2 is a good choice. Don't get the Performance Pack, though. The suspension is too stiff. Standard setup is sporty enough.
