Kudos to Thomas Sankara for having a better gender politics but it’s unfortunate how so many of the pan-Africanist men who point to him as a champion of equality are extremely antagonistic to women who say the same things Sankara did. How noble of Sankara, how hateful of women.

@burnteba The way some of them are talking as if the man will just let his lesbian wife pick her girlfriend for the marriage. After which he leaves the two of them alone and they don’t have to live life having sex they clearly don’t want to have with a man they’d rather not be married to.

So many parents think it’s the job of the school teacher to teach their kids. It’s actually their job to cover the approved curriculum with your kids. So you must think of your child’s education in terms that exceed the classroom. This education system is for raising cogs.

On the night of February 14, 2026, one of the most celebrated voices in African speculative fiction nearly lost his life — and came within inches of permanent paralysis. Oghenechovwe Donald Ekpeki (@Penprince_) — the first African-born Black author ever to win a Nebula Award, and a winner of the World Fantasy Award, British Fantasy Award, and two Nommo Awards — was struck by an out-of-control delivery vehicle while walking near Reddington Hospital in Ikeja, Lagos. The rider slammed into him at full speed, launching him into the air and onto the pavement, then continued forward and struck the woman walking beside him before finally stopping. When doctors finally examined him — after a nine-hour ordeal without medical attention — they delivered alarming news: Ekpeki had sustained a spinal fracture. The orthopaedic surgeon told him plainly that had the injury been even slightly worse, he would have faced permanent paralysis, lifelong deformity, or chronic debilitating pain. Ekpeki’s publishers are currently raising are raising $3,000 to help cover his immediate medical expenses and support him through his recovery period. You, too, can help Ekpeki get better by donating. gofundme.com/f/help-oghenec…

I don't care how many revolutionary aesthetics someone has if they're still got the patriarchal root within them they're going to try to control everyone around them because of that root

They definitely haven’t read it. For centuries Indigenous people been telling folks that pandemics are 100% connected to colonialism and they never paid attention. What Engels said was never going to change their ways.😤

And I discovered that Engels writings about the class war include tons of tons of info about epidemics and indoor and outdoor air quality. Did anyone ever actually read this shit or nah

Why does everyone hate this political commentator just for being catastrophically wrong in favour of a brutal and murderous regime all of the time?

Amazing how the media can tell you all about human rights abuses in Iran, but when the US is causing people on ventilators to die in Cuba, there is radio silence. Apparently, human rights only matter when we need an excuse to start a war.

There is no other way to redistribute the resources of these nation that are concentrated in a few hands, but revolution. Our current system, down to the constitution, protects their rights to hold on to this forever. We must overthrow the system itself to win a liberated future.

My friend & I were discussing the late Oyo governor’s estate dispute. And we were stuck on the SEVEN THOUSAND ACRES OF LAND. So we asked ChatGPT to put the landmass in an equivalent we can conceptualize. Here are some results; - 8.7 UNILAG approximately 9 - 3 University of Ibadan

I really dislike this logic because its premise is that Africans can never relate to non-Africans except by giving up their sovereignty. It basically uses our colonized position in relation to the west as the model for geopolitics. It's either Africans are colonized or isolated. We're incapable of having partnerships with people outside the continent. It's such an insidious argument because it pretends to be about sovereignty when it really is about saying Africa can only be colonized. So if we're not colonized by Euro-America, it will be by China. It also is based on the old identity fallacy among western-educated Africans that the problem of colonialism was the foreign identity of Europeans rather than power and looting. In other words, we Africans are doomed not to do very well when it comes to foreigners, when the issue should be resisting politically against oppression. It's a red herring.

China is not better for Africa than America. Autonomy is better for Africa. Sovereignty is better for Africa. Let them all go with everything they claim to bring, let them leave our resources, our land, or ports, and our oceans, let them leave us by ourselves to figure it out.

It fascinates me that giving to charities is considered noble and praiseworthy. But creating a society that doesn't require charity is considered socialist and bad. 🤔

It's not enough to be anti-war. It's not even enough to be for peace, even in the Black radical tradition of the term. We must be for the total overthrow of colonialism and imperialism. This is what Iran is modeling.
