He could earn massive share awards if the company hits a $7.5 trillion valuation and establishes a million-person presence on Mars, along with major computing capacity in orbit. He gets nothing unless these targets are met and currently earns only a minimal salary. The plan is highly unusual and may create tension with Tesla, as both companies compete for his attention.

every time you see a startup with ".ai" in its domain, remember: a tiny caribbean island is getting paid. back in 1995, every country was assigned its own internet domain. india got .in. the us got .us. the uk got .uk. and anguilla, a small caribbean island, got .ai. at the time, it meant nothing. then artificial intelligence took off, and suddenly every startup wanted those two letters. today, .ai domains generate a massive share of anguilla's revenue, helping fund healthcare, infrastructure, and even a new airport. sometimes, the biggest opportunities aren't created, they're stumbled upon.

@tenobrus In truth, I think people underrate Eliezer. He has so much gravity that people miss the empathy in his words, and they argue with the version of him in their heads. He doesn't even argue that we ought not to build ASI, merely that we should ensure that it is a human not an alien.
