@SimonDGriffiths @outdoor_swimmer I recently listened to Quit by Annie Duke which was great in understanding when it’s right to quit something and it reinforced that I had made the right decision to quit that day.

I've been thinking this week about success and failure in open water swimming. We often say we fail if we don't complete a swim - but is it a success if by not completing we avoid injury or illness? More on this in the @outdoor_swimmer newsletter this week.

@SimonDGriffiths @outdoor_swimmer I didn’t complete a 3mile swim at Ullswater a few years ago because it was really choppy and it wasn’t enjoyable. I felt rubbish at the time esp when all my friends completed it. However, it was the right thing to do for me so as not to put myself off swimming. ☺️
