@childrensbones And fractures contribute to premature loss of ambulation. A vicious cycle. There might be a role for earlier initiation of bisphosphonates before fragility fractures and loss of ambulation in boys with DMD on glucocorticoids and low BMD.

@pjputh Hmm…endo here…organic chem, Biochem, and molecular bio = fav pre-Med classes. I still admire carbon rings, steroid core structure, and other anatomical hormone structures. It’s quite applicable in practice. 1/2

@pjputh 2/2 I have atomic structures of different bisphosphonates in my lectures for trainees to understand their structures, different R groups and how it relates to the drug’s MOA, etc. Second picture is Zoledronic acid, with unique R groups that define the drug.
