Diagnosis of jaundice can be difficult on darker skin. An NHS report shows that medical devices are more accurate than visual assessments for detecting jaundice in all babies, particularly babies with Black, Brown or darker skin. Physical examination has always been the first diagnostic approach for jaundice. Yet, research highlights the current lack of training for healthcare professionals, including a lack of appropriate training materials, such as images of how skin colour changes appear on minority ethnic babies – which compounds these issues.  To enhance outcomes and quality of life for babies with jaundice, it is imperative to use resources that are highly representative. This includes educating families and providing comprehensive training for health workers. Research Credit: Bliss.org.uk
