Out now in Nature Reviews Genetics! rdcu.be/d5AY2 We show how phylogeny-based methods can resolve the problem of non-independence in genomic datasets. These methods must be considered an essential part of the comparative genomics toolkit. @lauriebelch @StuWest8

If you explore the college gardens, you might be rewarded with not one, not two, but all three college cats...! Thanks to CDRF @AnnaEDewar for the impressive feat of spotting them all together 🐱🐱🐱

Very excited that next month, I’ll be starting a Career Development Research Fellowship at @StJohnsOx! I’ll be using comparative genomics and phylogenetics to tackle broad, across-species evolutionary questions in bacteria and eukaryotes. Can’t wait to get started! 🧬🦠

Larger ant colonies have favoured the evolution of more worker castes 🐜 New research in @NatureEcoEvo on these 'superorganisms' could help us learn more about the evolution of complexity in multicellular organisms 👇 bit.ly/3AGVUrL

@TLowePower @StuWest8 @Hao7Chunhui @lauriebelch @GhoulMelanie Here's our main definition of the 'host or free living' trait. We also used a version of the where 'primarily host' & 'primarily free' were merged into a single 'both' category. Ralstonia solanacearum is in our dataset as 'primarily host'.🦠
