Another holiday read! 🎅 In a collaboration between @CbiToulouse, @sanofi and @UnivParisSaclay, researchers have developed a large-scale computational model of an arthritic joint to better understand rheumatoid arthritis and identify new treatment targets. This "digital twin" simulates the complex interactions of cells and molecules involved in the disease, offering insights into disease mechanisms and potential therapies.

I’m spending Christmas alone this year — no family, no friends — just me It’s a necessary evil this year; The family Thanksgiving gathering was where I picked up the dangerous infection that might kill me This is the harsh reality of living with a lifelong critical disease. There is little room for emotion in most decisions. If you want to survive, life must be approached through an actuarial lens: deliberate and studious calculation of risk at every turn It’s part of the reason why I’ve lasted so long compared to my peers In many ways, people look at me and see a normal-ish life on the surface. But there are a million little things which make the life I lead very different from the norm It affects every part of life: who I can be friends with, where I can go, what I can do, what I could do for work, who I can date, what I can eat, which hobbies I can and cannot do, what recreations I might enjoy, what times I can be available, which places I can live… ad infinitum For people like me, the boogeyman is real. He hides behind any corner, masquerading as some benign event that could spell your end. It’s in your best interest to be diligent about avoiding him if possible But like all things actuarial, risks must still be taken if the benefits outweigh the risks… But this year, Christmas didn’t make the cut ⚖️ So do me a favor and eat an extra slice of pie for me tonight and tomorrow!
