@CacheThatCheque I wanted to sell half of my 8316 but I got too greedy. I sold 8058 and 8031 at a substantial profit though to have some cash. Let's see. Last time I sold my trading houses I missed a huge rally (last year).

Wish I had more dry powder to pick up stocks at a bargain but I think inactivity is the best option at the moment

Another new Nikkei all time high today. Last year was also good and I collected record dividend income. I did an exact count of my total dividends for 2025 and I collected 1.48m yen in dividends before tax. This year it may be over 1.6m yen. The snowball keeps getting larger.

I’m at about a 42% CAGR over 5 years. I didn’t know it at the time but I nailed the timing in buying the Sogo shosha stocks in late 2019 before Buffett. There could be a lost decade from now in the Japanese stock market but my returns are now already baked in

@Annask47 they're not as cheap as they used to be, but I think they're fine to own if you think about them as long term holdings

“What’s the catalyst for a Japanese Shitco?” There usually isn’t one. Buying these types of companies before there is a clear catalyst is often how money is made
