Today's the feast of St Rita, 15th Century Augustinian nun. Here she is in the fashionable church of St-Roche in the Rue St-Honore, Paris. A widow after the murder of her abusive husband, she devoted herself to a life of prayer, and is usually depicted with a wound on her forehead, a partial stigmata. She's the patron saint of victims of domestic abuse.
