What do they call it when you can't stand to be awake or asleep? When it's sad dreams or equally sad reality? Days seem to contract, consisting of far fewer hours, with virtually nothing accomplished. Again and again. Is there a term for that?

Being afraid of reading "problematic authors" is due to your own insecurity with your beliefs and identity. You think that if you read "bad people", you'll become bad yourself, soaking up their toxins like a dim sponge. This is because you are stupid and can't trust yourself.

Agh, I'm never going to get to listen to her snore or inhale her scent. What is the point of any future? Feels as if I don't have a great deal of time anymore anyway. But maybe that isn't the worst thing in the world.

🆘🆘 GARFIELD THEODORE (ID 251241), 3 YO, MALE – IN MANHATTAN ACC - came into the shelter as an agency on 4/19/2026. 🆘🆘 😿 😿 😿 😿 ➡️TBD 5/26/26 ➡️ NEW HOPE PARTNER RESCUE ONLY ➡️ TOO LOW ON PLEDGES TO STIMULATE RESCUE INTEREST ➡️🆘🆘 4TH Chance on Emergency Placement List – BEYOND URGENT - NO ROOM IN SHELTER – WILL NOT BE GIVEN MUCH MORE TIME – VERY HIGH EU/SILENT KILL RISK – 🆘🆘 😱🔥🔥😱 ➡️ 36 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT ➡️ GARFIELD THEODORE IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIOREAL REASONS - He is not thriving in the care center and continues to display challenging behavior during interactions. He is extremely intelligent and high energy, and needs to expend energy constructively with interactive play sessions 3-4X/day. In addition to playtime, this cat would also benefit from mental exercise from activities such as puzzle toys/games, lick mats, or clicker training. Without providing activity for his mind and body, the cat may react with rough play, potentially resulting in bite/scratch incidents. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.🔥🔥🔥🔥 A volunteer writes: Garfield Theodore sees the bigger picture, so if you see him sitting pressed up against the door with his fur going in every direction, please just know it's part of a plan. He's an extraordinarily smart guy who feels compelled to manage several projects concurrently, so Garfield Theodore has taken on shelter life with that type of understanding exuberance. He knows he has to work a little harder to stand out so he's always trying out some new moves that he hopes might impress you. Garfield Theodore's latest is a bouncy leap onto my shoulders. Making himself big and tall, he gave me a hug and then nuzzled so emphatically I couldn't help but fall in love. He did this several times with slight variations, one time putting his whole nose into my ear but I think he was just trying to ask which one I think his forever family will most like. A life of the party cat who loves to be in the mix, Garfield Theodore's looking to find an experienced cat family who will provide cat projects for him to preside over and a forever family to love. ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻 NEEDS OUT OF SHELTER ASAP – Please RT or pledge, if you can, to save this little one. @AdamsPaulGrimke 💔😿🙏Thank you

I'm an independent kitty who likes to do my own thing. I am looking for a home with a patient person. I will flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home. I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe. Devon Deluxe is an adult cat that may not have had many interactions with humans from an early age. He is very apprehensive of people and while showing no aggressive behaviors, he does hiss and avoid human contact. It is difficult to predict if he will respond to socialization but we recommend offering high value treats and food to help build a positive association to humans. Please be mindful that older cats will require more time and skill in order for them to be comfortable around people. ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻 NEEDS OUT OF SHELTER ASAP – Please RT or pledge, if you can, to save this little one. @AdamsPaulGrimke @mehser12 💔😿🙏Thank you

In addition to playtime, this cat would also benefit from mental exercise from activities such as puzzle toys/games, lick mats, or clicker training. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.🔥🔥🔥🔥 A volunteer writes: Springtime came to us courtesy of the NYPD. His crime? Simply finding himself all alone, with no human home to go to anymore. While he's waiting for new pet parents to fall in love with him, he's adjusting well at the Care Center. Springtime is a shy, calm, quiet youngster who shows interest in the humans who drop by to coax him out of his shell. When I met him last night, he was sitting on top of his cat den, observing me with soft blinks and seemingly unbothered by the sights and sounds of the cat adoption room. Springtime has been enjoying his treats and accepting some pettings, but what he really needs is a new person to come by and declare, "you're going home with me!" Make it happen for this good boy by introducing yourself to him at the Care Center today! Springtime tolerates attention and petting but appears fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻 NEEDS OUT OF SHELTER ASAP – Please RT or pledge, if you can, to save this little one. @AdamsPaulGrimke 💔😿🙏Thank you

🆘🆘 FUNK MASTER FLASH (ID 251585), 2 YO, MALE – IN QUEENS ACC - came into the shelter as an agency on 4/8/2026. 🆘🆘 😿 😿 😿 😿 ➡️TBD 5/26/26 ➡️ NEW HOPE PARTNER RESCUE ONLY ➡️ TOO LOW ON PLEDGES TO STIMULATE RESCUE INTEREST ➡️🆘🆘 9TH Chance on Emergency Placement List – ALMOST UNPRECEDENTED – AND SHELTER AT MAXIUMUM CAPACITY - NOW IS THE TIME TO ACT/HELP FUNK MASTER FLASH - HIGHEST EU/SILENT KILL RISK- VERY LIKELY LAST CALL FOR FUNK MASTER FLASH. ➡️ 46 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT ➡️ FUNK MASTER FLASH IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS - He is not thriving in the care center and is deteriorating in the Adoptions room. While he has struggled to adjust to the shelter setting, he previously tolerated some touch and interaction with behavior staff. He is now displaying signs of more Fearfully Defensive Behaviors due to his high levels of FAS. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.🔥🔥🔥🔥 A volunteer writes: We know Funk Master Flash likes the treats we leave for him. We also know that he prefers we not stare at him while he enjoys them. This is understandable for many reasons but also because Funk Master Flash could use a little extra space to collect his thoughts at the moment. Brought to us with two other cats when their guardian passed away, it must seem like the rug has been pulled from beneath his little paws. Settling into shelter life has been a considerable process and I'm not entirely sure Funk Master Flash knows where to start. Snuggled up in the back of his cubby and ready to air his grievances, we know he's not a fan of the Care Center but he shows bright and starry glimpses of the kitty he can be when he allows pets. We might not be able to see all of Funk Master Flash's best sides at the moment, but we hope that what we see is enough to convince someone that he's the cat for them. ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻 NEEDS OUT OF SHELTER ASAP – Please RT or pledge, if you can, to save this little one. @AdamsPaulGrimke 💔😿🙏Thank you

🆘🆘 PEBBLES (ID 251706), 2 YO, MALE – IN QUEENS ACC - came into the shelter as an aco - impound on 4/10/2026. 🆘🆘 😿 😿 😿 😿 🆘🆘 UPDATE – UPDATE - PEBBLES CAME IN WITH HIS BONDED HOUSEMATE BAM-BAM (ID 251707), ALSO ON THE EPL - LET’S KEEP THEM TOGETHER🆘🆘 ➡️TBD 5/26/26 ➡️ TOO LOW ON PLEDGES TO STIMULATE RESCUE INTEREST ➡️🆘🆘 8TH Chance on Emergency Placement List – HIGHLY UNUSUAL AND SHELTER AT MAXIMUM CAPACITY- NOW IS THE TIME TO ACT/HELP PEBBLES - HIGHEST EU/SILENT KILL RISK–🆘🆘 😱🔥🔥😱 ➡️ 45 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT ➡️ PEBBLES IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS -He is not thriving in the care center and continues to display distance-increasing behavior when approached for interactions. He has not warmed up despite staff using treats to build a positive association. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.🔥🔥🔥🔥 What my friends at ACC say about me: I'm an independent kitty who likes to do my own thing. I am looking for a home with a patient person. I will flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home. I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe. Pebbles is an adult cat that may not have had many interactions with humans from an early age. She is very apprehensive of people and while showing no aggressive behaviors, she does attempt to flee and avoid human contact. It is difficult to predict if he will respond to socialization, but we recommend offering high value treats and food to help build a positive association to humans.

🆘🆘 EVAN GOT RHYTHM (ID 251696), 2 YO, MALE– IN QUEENS ACC - came into the shelter as an owner surrender on 4/10/2026, with the surrender reason stated as person health - medical. 🆘🆘 😿 😿 😿 😿 ➡️TBD 5/26/26 ➡️ NEW HOPE PARTNER RESCUE ONLY ➡️ TOO LOW ON PLEDGES TO STIMULATE RESCUE INTEREST ➡️➡️🆘🆘 5TH Chance on Emergency Placement List – BEYOND URGENT - NO ROOM IN SHELTER – WILL NOT BE GIVEN MUCH MORE TIME – VERY HIGH EU/SILENT KILL RISK – 🆘🆘 😱🔥🔥😱 ➡️ 45 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT ➡️ EVAN GOT RHYTHMIS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS -He is not thriving in the care center and continues to display distance-increasing behavior when approached for interactions. Evan Got Rhythm is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and likely are a result of a lack of socialization and fear leading to defensive behaviors. These behaviors may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to swat, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment, and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time. 💔😿💔😿💔😿 NEEDS OUT OF SHELTER ASAP – Please RT or pledge, if you can, to save this little one. @AdamsPaulGrimke @mehser12 💔😿🙏Thank you
