@sinnfeinireland It's causing a barrier to abortion. Abortion is not care. If the unborn child was ill and a procedure was done to save its life, that would be care. Abortion is done with the intent of killing the unborn child. It is the antithesis of care.

We must trust women and ensure access to healthcare here at home. The mandatory three-day wait for abortion services is causing real hardship for women across Ireland and creating unnecessary barriers to care. Sinn Féin’s legislation will remove this barrier, allowing women to access the healthcare they need, when they need it. Every woman deserves the time and space to make decisions about her healthcare.

Another trans woman came out at my college today 🏳️‍⚧️ She walked into our lecture with makeup and a gorgeous dress. You could sense the energy in the lecture hall that everyone was positively in awe! 😯 But the most memorable to me was the smile that could never leave her face. She was practically glowing as opposed to gloomy old self before she came out. 💗 We don’t do this for attention or to make others uncomfortable. We transition to save our lives. You have to be blind not to see it. 🥰

The who people voted yes for abortion in Ireland did so on a promise of particular legislation and protections. The government are now backing Sinn Fein in moving the goalposts of that legislation. This shows the complete lack of respect Harris and Martin have for the voters.

The mandatory three-day wait for abortion care creates unnecessary barriers for women, including victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and can delay access to essential healthcare. Removing the mandatory wait does not mean a woman cannot take more time if she needs it. Women will still be entitled to a repeat appointment. Sinn Féin will bring legislation before the Dáil this week to remove this barrier. It is time for compassion, trust and timely access to care.
