Yet another new anti-phage system !! But how all these defence systems work together? 🤔 That's what we investigated in this new paper, led by the very talented @Alice__Maestri 👇👇👇

Check out our last preprint where we describe a new bacterial defence system and find that it acts in synergy with CRISPR to eliminate phages biorxiv.org/cgi/content/sh… @Anne_Chev @edzewestra @ElliePursey @CharlotteChong_ @BenoitJPons @scottishwormboy @ksbakes @StinekevanHoute

@AHarms485 We had the exact same question few weeks ago (for same applications). We opted for synergy H1 as it is reputed to be more robust when shaking over long time periods. Tecan devices are not designed for microbiology applications (FWIU). Synergy more expensive though

We would mostly use the device to measure turbidity and fluorescence over time while shaking microplate cultures, with injection of antimicrobials.

Microplate readers from Tecan (Infinite Nano) or Agilent (Synergy H1) for microbial growth / killing assays - would you have a preference, and why?

Thanks (again) everyone 😊, and many thanks to @ASMicrobiology ! To me, it is also a recognition of the entire viral ecogenomics field, and I feel very (very) lucky to work alongside brillant, supportive, kind, and overall just awesome scientists 🥰.
National Microbiome Data Collaborative@MicrobiomeData

Please join us in congratulating #NMDC team member Simon Roux, who was awarded the 2025 ASM Microbiome Data Prize! 🎉 We’re so excited to see his hard work honored by @ASMicrobiology ! @simroux_virus
