Thank you @LSHTM_malaria! The journey to #ZeroMalaria demands commitment & consistency from government, NGOs, donors & advocates. I understand this and won’t stop speaking for endemic communities! Now We Can. Now We Must. @ZeroMalaria #ZeroMalaria #WMD2026 #NowWeCanNowWeMust

For many, malaria is a statistic. For @ObetaOdinaka, it’s personal. Ahead of #WorldMalariaDay, his story shows why awareness is not enough and why communities must be at the centre of the fight. Read more👉 bit.ly/4w4kdbk

My agenda for the Nairobi doctors is to be accountable for their coin, and ensure money is and remains in their pocket. Money in your pocket means no salary delays, no out-of-pocket health payment, no underpayment, timely promotions, and no understaffing. Nairobi doctors deserve dignity and to enjoy their money. African Leaders Malaria Alliance (ALMA)
In her reflections on last month’s #AUSummit and the release of the #AUMalariaProgressReport2025, Dr.Annette Onyango, Secretary of the ALMA Youth Advisory Council (AYAC), writes: "And yes, young health workers, community educators, and advocates are doing critical work on the ground across the continent. But what this Summit reinforced for me is that young people need to be in the room where the decisions are made, not just outside it. The commitments that get made, for example, on malaria financing, on health sovereignty, on domestic resource mobilisation, on the architecture of global health, will shape the continent we inherit. I see this as a reason not to wait to be invited in, but instead push." This is a powerful reminder that #youth must be present in the spaces where decisions about their future are made. The Government of Kenya is awash with surplus funds, to the extent that it struggles to deploy them meaningfully. This financial glut has seemingly emboldened officials to seek frivolous avenues for expenditure. For instance, allocating KES 500 million to host the so-called 'Africa Grammy Awards' Where is the rigorous cost-benefit analysis to justify this expenditure? Moreover, is this investment even refundable in the event of unforeseen contingencies? Meanwhile, the country faces an escalating crisis among medical interns, many of whom are succumbing to mental health challenges, with some tragically resorting to suicide after enduring protracted periods of unpaid labor. How is it conceivable that we have money to remit to a U.S.-based institution for hosting a ceremonial event, yet fail to remunerate those at the frontline of safeguarding public health?
