This is incredible..turn the volume UP!😍🐦🎶 How many sounds do you hear? This video is not mine, it belongs to Sarah Tidwell. She's not on Twitter, but gave me permission to share here, as I knew my followers would love it!❤️ #Starling

Bird nests made from anti-bird spikes! 🤯 Even for me as a nest researcher, these are the craziest bird nests I've ever seen. Today my paper came out on this rebellious behaviour. And it's like telling a joke... A thread. 🧵

Almost straight from #Glastonbury23 to #Groundswell23 - I'm not sure I have ever felt so nourished by friendship, community, music and knowledge. But now time to sleep.

@JessicaStokes9 Yes, they would select for fatty tails for use sacrificially and the fat for fuel.... apparently. So they would like to keep the tail and therefore must build it a tail-mobile

@AnnieRayner Is this because they bred sheep's tails so long and they didn't want them to get dirty? Why?! Better this than cut them off 🤔

"All the shepherds know enough of carpentering to make little trucks for their sheep's tails" Another to add to the collection of mad things humans have done to animals... this time from c.450BC

This is absolutely horrendous and heartbreaking to watch... an alternative to CO2 stunning for pigs is long over due . Pigs do not have a humane death - it is good that this is being brought to the UK press following on from the US expose. theguardian.com/environment/20…

Kosläpp is a Swedish word that literally translates to cow release after winter housing, and today was that special day here on our farm. I don't know if there is an Irish version of the word Kosläpp but I think it's a beautiful moment that definitely deserves its own word 🐄😊

Our cattle seem very calm and content - super important when running a mixed horned and polled group. They enjoy relaxing on the hay - and this is fine, they still eat it 10/11

Bale grazing progress thread: This winter we are bale grazing hay in the same field it was cut, leaving the bales where they came out the baler and putting most of them up on a couple of old fence posts to reduce damp issues. We have added in some species rich bales too 1/11
