I still attest that 'Space Babies' is an okay episode. It's just fine.
But as a *Season Opener*? Really bad move. 'Doctor Who' can do weird, zany stuff but I don't think you should open with it during a worldwide relaunch.
Opening Season 1 with 'Boom'? That's the smarter play.

I never got the criticism of "The Timeless Child" revelation that it ruins the show because the "point/message" of DW was that "you can be the Doctor".

@TrilbeeReviews TLDR: They put "make everything look expensive" first, story second. It's why I fell off Star Trek: Discovery after the episode where they show what the Federation looks like in the 32nd century. Flashy for the sake of looking flashy, and not somewhere I could see myself living

@TrilbeeReviews I'm convinced it was done this way solely because they were so committed to making the show look expensive that they decided to make sure as much of the sets could be shown on screen as possible so they wouldn't feel as though their money would've gone to waste.

Speaking relatively and in the context of the time in which they were produced I've got to go with TDMP.
The VFX in modern-Who are obviously better, but Douglas Camfield's direction feels so dynamic with an emphasis on the actors so the audience can better connect with them.
