In other news: kids who tell their teachers to f*** off all the time ‘tend not to do as well as they could.’ Eye-watering stupid activism from this organisation. Grateful to @SkyNews for allowing me to provide a reality check. So many of these stories rely on one-sided self-reported accounts of the students who disrupt lessons or terrorise their peers. What about the victims of this behaviour?

I’m not sure why there isn’t high profile coverage of this poor teacher who was stabbed by a group of students, some in uniform, just outside his school.

3 steps* I think would make a huge difference to quality of life and retention in Secondaries.
1. Release some pressure on GCSEs and grades.
2. End data culture.
3. Encourage subjects to be subjects.

Every time I see the stark figures of the pay disparity between teachers in NI & the rest of the UK my blood boils a little bit more.

Gill, babes, last year four of the classes in my dept only had a qualified teacher for three months. A teacher left last week and we can’t replace them. My A Level physics students have no teacher.
Us striking is not the problem. 8 days is not the problem.

Last year, school strikes resulted in 25 million school days being lost cumulatively. Children should not have to suffer a repeat of this disruption. I’m announcing that we will introduce minimum service levels in schools so that pupils get the education they need and deserve.
