Jelly no Puzzle (2013) One of the most challenging puzzle games I've played on a while, and consequently one of the most rewarding. With how freely available it is, I'd reccommend everyone to at least try it and see how far you can get.

We Were Here Expeditions (2023) Easily the best in the series by far. Each puzzle tests your communication ability in a unique way, while the granular grading system encourages mastery instead of simply understanding the premise. Best part is that the length is only ~2 hours.

@Niflheimm155983 Big jumps are more doable than you might think. My biggest jump was 460 -> 500 when I finally killed the boss. I think once you learn how to handle the Gigapedes you'll see a substantial increase, although that is probably the biggest hurdle of the game.

Finally got a new Devil Daggers record!! 310 seconds at 10 hours played -> 338 seconds at 22 hours played I'm savoring the fact that I'm still at a level where my jumps are pretty big. I really gotta stop procrastinating on getting practice mode set up though

@Niflheimm155983 I tried to like Disco Elysium. I heard the writing was the greatest in the industry and moves the medium forward as an art form. Turns out it's for people who cry laughing at Critical Role highlights. Also, The Witcher 3 is the king of all reddit games.

@Niflheimm155983 It took me a while to get used to it, but I'm glad I did. Definitely feels like the intended way to play certain games even if it's technically a disadvantage.

I’ve tried arcade sticks a couple times now and I just can’t, I simply don’t like them. Really unfortunate that PlayStation doesn’t support keyboard input, for all the M2 Shottriggers releases and stuff I wonder if people use keyboards for fighting games too

Real gamers know that Mouse & Keyboard is the superior input method for ANY game.

@rose_phantasm I've been using Steam notes and sorting by zone. I've been writing almost everything down, but it doesn't seem too necessary early on. It gets pretty easy to backtrack, so I can always revisit previous areas if I really get stuck.

@Anonymous7885 How did you approach note taking? In-game or pen and paper? I have yet to play it, but heard a little about the experience.

Started playing La-Mulana. Im only three hours in, but it's absolutely incredible so far. It has the same sort of secret hunting that I love from Metroid, except instead of your reward being a few extra missiles, you get the spear that pierced Jesus.

Diablo 2 has me wanting to move back into some classic western PC gaming soon, something to play alongside the arcade stuff Help me narrow it down, and maybe give me something specific for the broader categories

@Niflheimm155983 Really? I can only see it as a technical limitation. Almost like saying crashes can add to the experience.

Writing was the end of good storytelling because it removed permadeath (which as we all know is good design)

Tiling Forest (DEMO) Really nice logic game that makes full use of its open world structure. Each puzzle has levels to how "solved" they are, forcing you to return as new pieces are unlocked. Half the fun is determining which areas are even doable with your current abilities.

@ezequiel51_ Is it having large animals as enemies? It might be something with their behavior, but I haven't played enough of these to be sure.

@ezequiel51_ Really? I'm having a hard time finding anything Cinco Paus has in common with the rest. Is it something to do with the enemies?

@Niflheimm155983 @ShinViral Ah, that makes sense. I couldn't decide if it was level design or movement related, so I was about to guess "games that reward perception." If I were to make this list, I'd probably include a fighting game like Tekken or a flying/driving game like Ace Combat.

The category I had in mind was “great controls with a learning curve” - like it might feel clunky at first, but as you get better you realize they’re peak. Probably should have subbed out GNG for classic RE or something @Anonymous7885 and @ShinViral you guys were very close

@Niflheimm155983 Games where you can skip most of the content? I haven't played some other these, but I'm thinking Mario is included because of the warp rooms.
