@tchaloyi @real_mno Huh, always thought it was a cylinder rather than a sphere was a scaling issue. Scaling a cylinder only goes one direction vs scaling a sphere goes all direction. I didn't realize rolling was the reason.

Thanks for the tag @real_mno Gas cylinders are cylindrical because if they had corners, the chances of them ending in a disaster would be very high. The gas inside that cylinder is under massive pressure. It's fighting to escape. In physics, pressure is like a crowd pushing through a door. If the cylinder were square or rectangular, that crowd would push hardest against the flat sides and sharp corners. Those corners would become weak spots. Eventually, the metal would tear open. That would be disastrous. A sphere is actually the perfect shape because it spreads pressure equally in every direction. No corners to break. But a ball would roll around your kitchen, so engineers compromised with a cylinder. By rounding the top and bottom into domes, they removed the weak corners. The pressure now pushes evenly against the curved walls. It's the same reason aeroplanes have rounded windows. Curves handle stress in the case of a gas. Corners would create disasters. Also, that cylinder shape makes it easy to roll and move. INALEGWU.

(The web novel obviously didn't have the Uber rich school set in mind until a few chapters later. Not sure on the LN).
