@TatesOofVlogsYt @Nesil_Caliskan They are spending more in a month on soft play, than they said VAT on private school fees would raise in a whole year. We were all told the earliest and most disruptive start date was absolutely necessary even though it was exceedingly painful for schools and parents. All lies.

@Nesil_Caliskan You are a disgrace. You supported Labour adding 20% VAT on the education of children, mid year, including SEND learning support, claiming it will raise £1.3bn, yet today celebrate Labour spending £1.8bn on kids going to Legoland, Nandos & watching Peppa Pig in the cinema.
Nesil Caliskan@Nesil_Caliskan

The @UKLabour government will scrap the VAT exemption for private schools, generating £1.3 billion that will help fund an additional 6,500 more teachers in our state schools. You can watch my interview on @BBCPoliticsLDN from a few weeks ago when I explained why the government was making the right it decision. bbc.co.uk/programmes/m00…

Welcome to the United Kingdom in 2026. A country in which you can rape two teenage girls - one at knifepoint - traumatising them for life, yet somehow avoid jail. Not only that, but a judge will praise you for “good conduct.” I am so beyond disgusted. What have we become?

@PeterTatchell These boys won’t be at school. They need to be punished otherwise this sets a very dangerous precedent. The judge should be sacked

Three teenage boys multiple raped two girls but got no jail time, despite being convicted of 11 counts of rape. SHAME! It signals that men can get away with raping women The judge needs to be retrained or retire Schools must educate against misogyny bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

@Wommando Consider how difficult it often is to even get a rape case into court let alone above the threshold for a conviction and then the girl is given this as "justice" and told to look back with courage. My god this judge needs to go to prison.

"Look back in courage" the judge tells the girls - including one who had told the court she wanted to die. No. When these girls look back, they’ll remember the pain. The violence. The terror. The humiliation. The sound of their rapists laughing while their lives were destroyed. And playing behind it all like a sickening backing track: a judge delivering sympathy and praise to their vile attackers - before watching them walk free out of court. If there was one thing that could have offered the smallest fraction of "comfort" to these girls - it was justice. And there was none here.

A teenage traveller gang who filmed themselves r-ping lone schoolgirls at knifepoint in separate attacks - laughing taking turns - have avoided jail Judge Rowland praised their trial behaviour & said: 'None of you need to go to prison today' 😫Girls just don't matter in the UK

@JoosyJew It’s bad enough only 3% rapes get convictions. Disgrace judge then doesn’t jail the rapists.

In the week that we’re told everything is going well and Labours plan is working, why are DfE scrapping more funding? Where is the money from VAT on private school? I think by now, everyone knows there is none - it’s costing the taxpayer more to keep the tax than scrap it.

@UKLabour I’m 50. In summer holidays as a kid we’d go fruit picking at a farm as a family and mum would pay me a jammy donut. Never went to a theme park till my 20s. Stop buying votes - people can make their own entertainment.

Hard‑working families are still feeling the squeeze and too often think they have to hold back. To add to the support we've already put in, we're making sure all children in England can travel free on buses in August.

@AdamJ10812 Maybe indy schools should brand themselves as "educational theme parks"?

Labour doesn’t understand that physical health is key - to learning, to mental health, to long term physical and mental health. Cutting sports budget further than their already terrible level is a disgraceful decision from a department that has lost its way entirely
Katie@katie74RT

Another funding cut rebranded as a “partnerships network”. If outcomes worsen, it’ll somehow be used as evidence about independent schools rather than a result of government funding decisions. The Sutton Trust will no doubt oblige. @TheScholar44 @IsabelPat1886 @oIIyjm

When VAT was cut on tampons and ebooks, prices didn’t fall - the suppliers kept the benefit. Unclear why this will be different.

@lukeakehurst Does that count as a "tax break enjoyed by theme parks then? While indy school parents now pay 20% VAT on education, even though doing so saves the taxpayer £££? How does that make sense?

@oldishbird1 @TheScholar44 @RemoaningW @alexhrbfc In this instance OB IS backing cuts, using the party line “partner model is more effective” Even it it were (it’s plainly not) we should be fighting for same funding and increased benefits. Not funding cuts that avoid making education better. Even if it was right it’d be wrong

@oldishbird1 @TheScholar44 @RemoaningW @alexhrbfc The government is penny pinching and wrong. Kids need PE. Go out of their classroom and run around. A partnership doesn’t do this. They’re over complicating something fiendishly simple. And underfunding it. I thought you were pro education OB? Yet here you are backing funding cuts

So through NI & vat, the government has made employing people more expensive, paying for education more expensive, but theme park entry cheaper. So less work, less school and more rollercoasters. Are we 100% sure the grownups are in charge?
