@chrisbizarre2 @DanNeidle @RonaldMcD0000 It's saying she was definitely told by a professional that she had to pay the lower rate. This advice was incorrect and she has now paid the higher rate. Unfortunately for her haters, she has done nothing wrong and it's all just an attack job by men who hate women (again)

@DanNeidle @RonaldMcD0000 She said that HMRC had cleared her of any wrongdoing but that can't be true because she didn't pay the correct amount of tax in the first place. It seems that what it did was conclude that while she had done something wrong it was not a deliberate attempt to evade tax.

An update on Angela Rayner. I wrote this morning that our team didn't understand why HMRC accepted Ms Rayner was not "careless", and so escaped penalties. I've since spoken to her lawyer, Graham Aaronson KC. The conversation was surprising.

Irrespective of any leadership bid it is now crystal clear the UK tabloids pursed Angela Rayner irresponsibility and vindictively, forced her from office, danced on her political grave. Surely any fair onlooker will contrast this with their blind backing of Nigel Farage and inability to investigate his £5m gift from a Thai-based backer who appears to have at least two names.

En 1955, Mao dijo que a China le tomaría «quince planes quinquenales» para «alcanzar y superar a los Estados Unidos». El 15.º plan quinquenal comenzó este año. Lo lograron. Los socialistas chinos lo lograron.

@Real_Sean_Brady @gorbalsgoebbels People will not admit that they are influenced by the group - what is his crime? Being a bit of a lefty? A free suit and designer specs? Mendelson - the entire fuckin press pack thought that was inspired and the same two faced hypocrites cite it as his worst crime! Addawayanshite

@gorbalsgoebbels Lots of people appear to dislike Starmer without being able to articulate a reasonable justification. I blame the relentless negativity on social media, largely driven by bit accounts.

I voted for Keir Starmer. I’ve voted Labour all my life except under Corbyn. He was a fucking nutter. What has Starmer done that’s so bad? It’s just noise from his enemies. He won a mandate at a GENERAL ELECTION. 14 years of shit can’t be turned around quickly.

One of the reasons I never bothered becoming a political journalist, is they are like sports journalists, they just talk about the numbers.... Never the policy… Never asking the single most important question of all: That there are no easy party-political answers to the problems we face and we need to work together... across national boundaries… we have more in common with our alleged enemies and with the poor people in the small boats than we think. Modern insurgent politics, much of it, has no actual answers to the actual issues.... the quality of people winning power in the world is deeply depressing.

@davidyelland @matthewsyed The saddest part is that SKS is not the worst PM we have had recently by a long way. The policy package is sensible left and in no way a threat to the epstein class and yet the unaccountable press barons and their minions are determined to show us who is in charge.

I agree with @matthewsyed in sense that the circular firing squad of digital age political media is now making the job of PM, whoever has it, almost impossible. Leaders in business do not face the same, it is hell we reserve for our political class. Something fundamental has changed here, which we need to address and discuss.

“The country is becoming ungovernable...” The Times's Matthew Syed says constant leadership speculation is making it harder for Prime Ministers to make tough choices. #Newsnight

Hi @jonsopel the things I remember about the attack 1⃣ Two police officers kicked a man who had been tasered on the ground so his body froze/clenched up, barely moving, five times in the head 2⃣ After spending an entire day offering support to the British Jewish community because I, like everyone else, was utterly shocked at what happened, I then found out that he had also attacked a Muslim man just a few hours earlier, and wondered why the Muslim victim wasn't even mentioned in any of Keir Starmer's two days of support for the British Jewish community 3⃣ I then remember the onslaught of criticism on Zack Polanski from politicians and the media asking about police conduct, accusing the only British Jewish party leader of being antisemitic I am and always will be grateful to our police, especially those who run towards danger and harm, while almost everyone else will go the other way in fear I am also glad to see support for the British Jewish community because no community should ever have to live in fear in our society, though by the same token am somewhat distressed that the British Muslim victim has been completely ignored in the narrative of the day But the overwhelming thing I remember about the day is how politicians and the media will exploit the genuine fear experienced by communities for gain It's this exploitation that is wrong As Rabbi Herschel Gluck who has an OBE for interfaith work said, using antisemitism to attack Zack Polanski - as was done over the commentary on this incident - is wrong We have to do better as a society, and that starts by not jumping people who question whether it's normal or acceptable practice for police to kick someone, tasered, on the ground, body clenched up, not moving, five times in the head

3 May 2002. Labour politician Barbara Castle died (aged 91). She was Labour MP for Blackburn from 1945 to 1979. As Labour Transport Minister she introduced permanent speed limits, breathalysers and seat belts. As Employment Minister she introduced the Equal Pay Act 1970.

Two bits of good news. 1. UK has quietly regained its position as the World’s 5th largest economy. 2. UK unemployment rate in surprise fall to 4.9% in three months to February, figures show. Nobody is complacent about the effect of events in the Gulf.

Krystal Ball just read testimony from an Israeli detention center. 'They stripped him. A captain sprayed something on his backside. They unleashed the dog. The dog raped the young man. It raped him, literally speaking, raped' This is not a conspiracy theory. This is documented along with many other. This is what Israel does And because the victims are Palestinian Muslims. So you don't see any coverage on Western media. This is the reality of Israeli detention and media complicity

Our daughter, Rachel Corrie, was killed in 2003 in Gaza, while trying to protect a Palestinian home facing illegal destruction by the Israeli military. She was 23 years old. The massive, armored Caterpillar D-9 bulldozer that crushed her was operated by two Israeli soldiers and manufactured in the United States. It was the same type of militarized bulldozer that US presidents from George W. Bush through to Donald Trump have delivered to Israel. Today, as the destruction of Palestinian homes has only become more commonplace, not to mention the horror of Israel’s genocide, Senator Bernie Sanders will force a vote in the Senate to try to end this cycle of death by banning the transfer of D-9 bulldozers to Israel. We hope he will not take this stand alone. No policy can bring back those taken from us by these actions—children and other loved ones. But the Senate now has an opportunity to honor the memories of our daughter, other Americans, and thousands of Palestinian civilians killed, and to show that their deaths, and all the destruction, will no longer be condoned and funded. We hope those elected to represent us, the American people, understand the message that voting to block these D-9 bulldozers will send. This will not be a symbolic gesture, but a concrete step toward the protection of human life. thenation.com/article/politi…

@JamesTate121 You failed as a parent. Your daughter was a pawn for TERRORISTS who call for the death of Jews. She was placed in harms way by TERRORISTS who wanted her to die, to be used as a propaganda piece. You still fail to see she had hung around filthy dogs who gave her nasty fleas.

@technopopulist Painfully true. Argue this in public and some pitiful journo will call it the politics of envy, fuck that. More interesting is the academic work looking into the psychological damage of boarding schools on young boys minds - making them TOTALLY UNSUITABLE FOR PUBLIC SERVICE

One of the most bizarre pipelines in British politics is the Oxbridge posh-boy network. You see the same traits again and again: the slick hair, the extraordinary levels of self-confidence, and the bluffer’s vocabulary(‘optimal’, ‘suboptimal’, ‘covenant’, blah blah blah) deployed with total assurance. They are one of the biggest barriers to meritocracy in this country, and to actually sorting out the problems we face. They are almost never properly scrutinised. When they are, it tends to be by others cut from the same cloth, speaking the same language, playing the same game, etc. etc.. And that, in many ways, is the problem
