Why do people have health insurance when they deny life saving devices @AnthemBCBS ! After a major heart related emergency that has put my son in the hospital he was told he would need to wear a life vest to prevent possible literal death @AnthemBlueCross has denied the claim!

@AnthemBlueCross - Summation of a conversation with two of your chat reps: First rep. Polite, but ended up giving me wrong information and sending me on a full day's goose chase. Me: My MD states they sent a preauthorization to Anthem for this treatment I've been receiving for 2 years. When I pull up my record, I see it was cancelled. Rep: That wasn't a preAUTHORIZATION, it was a preDETERMINATION. The request was cancelled since there's no need for review for preDETERMINATION. You may coordinate with your provider to submit a preAUTHORIZATION for services. Me: I did. They said they sent it. HAVE they sent it? Rep: The request was cancelled since there's no need for review for preDETERMINATION. There is no preAUTHORIZATION request from the provider. Me: Can you tell me if they sent a PHARMACY request for this, then? Rep: Your pharmacy coverage is under CAREMARK, you need to check with them. You can reach them at this number. Rep: The doctor didn’t respond to their pay department. Automatically closed. I can provide you the # your doctor needs to call to submit prior authorization specialty department. SIX hours later, after being bumped from your pharmacy, to the special pharmacy, etc., I'm told, "This falls under medical, not pharmacy." I've come full circle. I've spoken with my Provider, they say they've submitted a preauthorization to Anthem. I chat with Anthem, again: Me, after explaining last 6 hours in 20 seconds: "My provider keeps telling me they've submitted a preAUTHORIZATION. The only thing I can find online is a preDETERMINATION, that was cancelled. Can you tell me if my MD submitted an actual preauthorization? "They've told me they did." Rep: "Upon checking, what I can tell you is the type of pre-AUTHORIZATION that was submitted was a preDETERMINATION." ME: Yes, it was a preDETERMINATION, NOT a preAUTHORIZATION. I was told that what shows up as cancelled was the preDETERMINATION, not a preAUTHORIZATION. Rep: "Yes. Upon checking here, the preDETERMINATION has been cancelled." Me: *HAS* my MD submitted a preAUTHORIZATION for this (named the procedure and the medication)? Rep: "I'll be happy to check this for you. May I ask for the authorization number, please?" Me: "If I had an authorization number, I wouldn't have to ask you if my MD has submitted a preAUTHORIZATION for this procedure/drug." Rep: "I found two authorizations with a creation date of 01/23/2026." (Surgery, two months ago.) Me: Those are for surgery that happened two months ago. I'm asking about and Rep FINALLY TELLS ME THAT THERE'S NO PREAUTHORIZATION FOR . Unbelievable.

So I previously self insured my child with @AnthemBlueCross over 4 years ago for about 1 quarter. Didn’t use the ins. Now I can’t schedule with her provider because in the “portal” blue cross still shows up. No one will correct this and I cannot contact BC because not a member!

My wife's breast cancer diagnosis was a tough blow, but she's battling and we will move on. But our dealings with @AnthemBlueCross @AnthemBCBS have been a nightmare of their own. Never seen a company so intent on NOT fulfilling its legal obligations. I'm sure we're not alone!

When we found out that our insurance provider changed to @AnthemBlueCross I was dreading the time when I will beed auth to continue therapy have been on for more then year! Not it has come the day i have appointment for infusion in a week time and prior auth is denied! 🤦‍♀️🥵

Anyone else have nightmare experiences with Anthem? @BCBSAssociation @AnthemBlueCross @anthm_bcnews trying to claim a lumpectomy in LA costs $1,000. Their M.O. seems to be deny on ludicrous grounds and hope the patient doesn’t fight back. They’ve obviously never met my wife.
