Understand that but I think you all bypassing my comment of getting a NIL and you need to be teachable in all aspects of life at all times always. At that age why box yourself in one avenue. Plus the stats are there for jr athletes going pro. Track ain’t like other sports you big and good enough you’ll be at the big dance regardless. But go to school get an education exercise your brain while exercising your other muscles both will make you a better person and athlete. And they can make way more money in a short period with less stress and obligations while growing learning and improving.

@Anthonique_ @kemal_e_forde I am a teacher for 19 years now, but I believe if the talent is exceptional go straight into professional then go study after. Can’t do track forever….but can study even at 70. I always think about what if they get hurt at college? Then what? Just my opinion still

With Shanoya Douglas running in the 100m 10.98seconds at Champs it is very likely that she will go pro. She has a very likeable athlete with the potential to earn a lot more money beyond having a shoe contract. Hopefully her team ensures that she capitalizes off the opportunities that come from being a young, talented and consistent athlete.

That argument is dead now back then there was no nil today there is nil and just encase no one made anyone aware you have nil athletes being paid more than professional athletes. And your recent athletes didn’t go pro they went to college at home. Which is still college. They need education. A lack of that is deadly because an uneducated person with money isn’t no better than one without. Let the kids make money get an education and grow in the sport and out with less of a timeline on their backs.

Yeah but the argument can be made that you go college and that kill you even more. We have numerous athletes that just lost now trying find them way. The irony of this is that in recent times our best athletes are the ones that went pro instead of going to the ncaa
Anthonique Strachan@Anthonique_

Going pro from high school is the fastest way to kill talent. Let her go college being educated helps in being coached better. Nil deals are also 10x better and less stressful than being a professional athlete. Let her actually grow the correct way. Limited jr going pro actually makes it

@crazyswaby Ok I agree about the seats because even grandstand seats hurt my little body. And it’s eye opening about the tickets access because I would think they would sell online or even in any grace kennedy/ Digicel establishment

@Anthonique_ One of the problems is access to tickets. Grandstand tickets are being bought out by non-dedicated track fans. You can mainly only buy season passes. If you can't attend, are you able to give that day ticket away? Bleachers need total refurbishing, seats with backrests.

I so want champs and sports in Jamaica get back to what it was when I visited in 2011. I saw men sitting on the wall. Couldn’t even hear your own thoughts from how loud and cheerful it was. The marketing and advertising needs to be the same how it was for the football matches

WATCH: Hillel Academy’s lone competitor Damian Jongwe was welcomed back to school by classmates after qualifying for the Class 3 boys 200m semifinals at Champs. Jongwe clocked 24.09 seconds to finish third in his heat on Thursday, advancing to Friday’s semifinal round. Born in France and relocating to Jamaica from Bangkok last August, he is the first and only athlete representing Hillel at this year’s championships. @Anthonique_ lol those days not coming back . The rivalry between KC/Cbar was more intense , marketing was better because the regular man know the names of the star athletes & Bolt era had the nation more interested in athletics

@DaleSpaniard Nahhh if you ( not necessarily you directly but us as adults) can pay 50k jmd for breakfast party and almost 2k usd for concerts you can pay to invest in kids sports. The schedule also needs to be adjusted for performance and attendance not just one

@Anthonique_ I feel u and hope it will too but I strongly doubt it ever will with how the schedule set. Also the price is another major factor too. It’s a high school event and the prices are set at adult rate
