We do not need James Bond's "backstory."
Dr. No told you everything you needed to know about Bond during the first minute he's on screen. Anything else is superfluous.
Bond does not need "explaining." He's a force of nature, knowable only on the surface.

Whatever Amazon MGM decides, remember how Daniel Craig was crucified in 2005. Fans called him too blond, too short, too rough. He went on to deliver Casino Royale (2006) and 15 years of the most acclaimed Bond run ever. Trust the casting process.

The amazing thing about this number from Robin & the 7 Hoods is that Crosby, near the end of his voice and certainly near the end of his box office pull, sings better and is more charming than Sinatra and Martin.
I sure wish this movie was better: it had everything, but misses.
