One cable/satellite provider expected to sign up for Marlins games tells me that MLB doesn't want to sign contracts with anybody until later today in an attempt to extract best possible terms. All 10 teams leaving FanDuel (including Marlins) are in this boat.... PR department for Breezeline - which serves much of North Miami, Aventura, Sunny Isles etc - emailed me that it won't carry the games on a standalone channel and you'll need to stream them through Marlins. TV.

A reminder that today begins the most convoluted, multi-pronged baseball TV approach in history, with Netflix streaming the opener (Yankees-Giants tonight), new rights-holder NBC carrying 2 games tomorrow.. Fox, TBS, ESPN, ESPN plus, Netflix, Apple, NBC, Peacock, MLB Network all have a part of the package. For the Marlins and 9 other teams leaving FanDuel, MLB will announce full plans (and allow teams to announce their plans) on Thursday.

Bucs linebacker Lavonte David will have a news conference today at 2 pm at One Buc Place, the team announced. Speculation is that he may retire after the team signed a second veteran inside linebacker Monday by reaching an agreement on a one year deal with Carolina free agent Christian Rozeboom.

This is cool -- Sean Spence and Lavonte David were teammates at Miami Northwestern High and won state titles playing together at linebacker in 2006 and 2007.

Sources: The #Chargers are hiring Sean Spence as their new inside linebackers coach. Spence, a former NFL player, most recently coached at Western Michigan and at the Senior Bowl. Under his guidance, Nadame Tucker led the country in sacks and TFLs this past season.

@schadjoe Baseball is a little different with so many games. I love the idea of the Marlins designating one night, Sunday, to “throwback teal”. They should continue to do one night for “city connect” maybe another night to a new custom. Home weekends should be like this for all teams.
