@StetsonUng @B1gSavo @bisquitpy @itsdeaann I don't think most judges delight in sending murderers to prison. I actually think that most judges would wish that they simply didn't murder. But sometimes punishment is necessary for the crime. In this context, Iran doesn't want to let the world obtain energy and peace.

We shouldn’t have a president who wishes death upon entire civilizations. If you disagree, you are genuinely evil.

In 1 Samuel 15, God told Saul to exterminate the Amalekites. He said to kill all men, women, children, and infants, devoting to destruction every living thing, for attacking the Jews unprovoked while the Jews wandered the desert. For time reference, God gave Saul this command 400 years after the Amalekites attacked the Jews. The part that is particularly challenging about this from the modern Christian worldview is that when we say that killing civilians in war is always "evil" or "unjust," we are slapped in the face with a clear command by God to commit what we would call "genocide." Not a single person alive of the Amalekites, or even their grandparents, were involved with the attack against the Jews. Yet, God told Saul to kill every single one of them. As we think about this post from our President, let us also have the mind of Christ, knowing that Christ, "did not come to Earth to bring peace, but a sword" (Matthew 10:34), and that, in the end of days, Jesus himself will wage war against all of those who don't believe, killing all of the unrighteous (Revelation 19:21). I do not know if God told Trump to destroy Iran's civilian infrastructure. I do not believe he is exterminating the people of Iran, as I don't see that in this post. But I do know this: God ordained Trump's Presidency, and God gave Trump command over the most powerful military in the world to exact judgment upon those who do evil (Romans 13:1-4). The Iranian regime is evil. They have killed thousands of Americans and have threatened the world for decades, and actively commit democide against their own people. The regime needs to be destroyed. I don't have the intel. I don't know all of the details. I also don't know Trump. But I trust God. Turn away from your sin, and be baptized, for you do not want the wrath of God to come down on you. Hell is a lonely, gruesome place with weeping and gnashing of teeth. If you reject God, he will give you the punishment that your sins have earned in Hell.

When Jesus died, there was an earthquake, and the veil in the temple was torn, exposing the Most Holy Place. This is very important. The Most Holy Place was a place reserved only for the high priest, where he would only enter once a year to offer sacrifice to God for the sins of Israel. When the veil was torn, the Most Holy Place was exposed. The final sacrifice, Christ on the cross, had been made. Now, the priesthood could freely enter into God's presence and receive forgiveness. What is the priesthood? All Christians are the priesthood. Because of Jesus' death on the cross, all Christians have direct access to God's presence. We no longer need to go to a priest for forgiveness. The veil between man and God was torn. We can go straight to God and receive forgiveness for our sins. This is why we celebrate Easter. It is a glorious day. Matthew 27:51 1 Peter 2:5

Is it really idiotic? Jesus summarized the 10 Commandments as (1) Love God, and (2) Love your neighbor as yourself. (Matt 22:36-40) Jesus fulfilled the law because he loved perfectly. You and I, if we were able to love perfectly, would also fulfill the law if we did. Romans 13:8 Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. Also echoed in James 2:8-10

This is the only good response I've seen. Many Christians aren't dating, aren't getting married, and aren't being fruitful and multiplying. I know many Christian women who are wonderful women in their 30's or older who've never been on a date. And similarly, men are afraid to ask them out. It's really a tragedy.

it’s more obvious from a more complete quote, but the major purpose was ending the dispute between two extremes of the early church, one which thought being married was the holy way to live, and the other which thought being celibate like jesus, was the holy way to live your relationship status does not determine your spiritual value; only devotion and faith in christ does

My interpretation: Do not marry out of obligation. Do not search for someone to fill the role of “wife” or “husband”. That is not a position to be filled but a path that naturally emerges if you are activated by a specific person. The default path is being single, anything else is putting the cart before the horse. You must make peace with the uncertainly of not knowing if or when.

The building was constructed in 1972. It has multiple tenants, one of which is a data center. It's an industrial building. If you've ever been near one, you know that these places oftentimes make a lot of loud noise throughout the day. That's why you typically don't have housing right next to it.

I think it's more complex than that. If the person is an unbeliever, we are not called to hold them to the same standard we would hold a believer to. We are called to be a witness of Christ, and not to judge the world for their worldly deeds. As a Christian, you absolutely should make your beliefs about their actions known in this circumstance. But whether or not to attend requires a bit more discernment.

@khalidi79397 The U.S. doesn't need the Strait of Hormuz. Europe does. China does. Japan does. The Gulf States do. If the Strait is closed, it just means that more oil drilling in the U.S. will replace the lost supply, and these countries will become dependent on the U.S. rather than the M.E

The Clock Isn't on America's Side The US is operating like it has unlimited time, juggling diplomacy, managing escalation, calibrating "proportional" responses. It doesn't have unlimited time. The Islamic Republic knows this. Their entire strategy is asymmetric by design: threaten the Strait of Hormuz, disrupt global energy markets, activate proxies across four countries. All with a fraction of America's military budget. They don't need to win. They just need to make the cost of confrontation feel endless. But asymmetry works both ways. The regime's survival depends on a surprisingly thin set of infrastructure: refineries it can't replace, import terminals it can't reroute, communications networks it can't rebuild quickly. These have been treated as off-limits. Why? If a regime spending less on its entire military than the US spends on military air conditioning can threaten global shipping lanes and hold the world economy hostage, then the response should impose the same disproportionate cost in reverse, targeting the chokepoints they can't afford to lose. Stop playing by rules the other side abandoned decades ago. Make the regime's ability to function the variable at risk, not just its proxies or its nuclear timeline. Asymmetry should cut both ways.

What you're saying implies that oil prices and stock prices always move in negative correlation to each other. While this has been the case in the majority of recessions, there was plenty of evidence to suggest that the stock market was already due for a 10-15% pullback before oil prices spiked. Take Liberation Day, 4/2/25, for example. The news makes it sound like the tariffs caused the pullback. In reality, the S&P 500 was already down nearly 8% from its peak 5 weeks earlier, and it bottomed with another 15% drop 3 days after the tariffs were announced. The market recovered 100% of the losses from Liberation Day within 30 days, when still nobody had any idea how much tariffs would actually be. I don't think we got to any form of "clarity" with the tariffs until mid-late July, when the S&P had already made new ATHs. This trend repeats over and over through history. See covid, GFC, 9/11, etc. News always follows the markets. Can news have a short-term effect on pricing for the overall market (like 1-3 days)?: Yes. Does it change the actual trend? No. Can news heavily affect a specific stock or sector? Absolutely. I think there's a chance we've bottomed already, but I'm leaning toward some further downside. I follow Alessio Rastani. He's probably the best technical analyst out there. He's in YouTube.

If news mostly follows price action rather than driving it, how do you practically separate real fundamental shifts (like sustained oil supply disruptions from the Strait of Hormuz) from noise in a binary event like this Iran situation? Any rules of thumb you've used successfully in past volatility?

With regard to public equities, I’m mostly invested in ETFs. With the recent drawdown in equities due to the war, I sold off some losers for tax loss harvesting and to raise about 25% cash. The Iran war is a genuine binary event. Either talks produce something real and the market rallies, or the pause expires and oil moves toward $120. I don’t know which way it goes, and I don’t think anyone does right now. I’d rather watch this resolution from cash and buy back in with clarity than ride a potential second leg down if the conflict escalates. I’m not making a long-term call on equities. I want to be back in within 30–90 days once the picture is clearer. In the meantime, prioritize harvesting losses. Why wouldn’t investors do this to mitigate risk during volatility? Harvest losses and protect against a further downside scenario. Anything I’m missing?

There's a lot of false doctrine in popular worship music. It may sound beautiful, but the message should be checked. Is it glorifying God or self? Is it reaching beyond the gospel? Is the focus on holiness or miracles? Churches like Bethel have put out some excellent, biblical music, and also some really weird, cult-like theology in their music.

I'm a top 1,500 holder of $QUBIC I've seen the TPS claim. I've also seen it claimed that the TPS claim was on an airdrop, and the real TPS is 2,000 TPS. I don't know what's true. I'm frankly disappointed with the poor communication, unmet promises of Tier 1 listings, and the fact that most pro-QUBIC social media accounts are bots. The failure of AI-Garth to do basic math correct is striking as well--another overhyped promise. I didn't think it's worth selling, but I have no intentions of buying any more.

@rohde88 I guess it depends. Is the high cap rate a suburban office market where rents are renewing at 40% lower than the existing lease rates? Is the low cap rate a 27-year gross lease on a supermarket at $7/SF with 5% escalations every 5 years? I've seen both in the last month.

@TristenPalori Approach it with caution and healthy skepticism. Maybe there's something to be done, but I know some tech guys who started trying to work with established players and their creation was essentially stolen. Even patented creations were stolen.
