@AntiMattersWX

Winter/tropical weather addict. I talk about the CONUS in general but mainly focus in on weather in the NE specifically the NYC metro.

@teortaxesTex Do you think this invites more capeshit and escalation by the Americans ?

You have to hand it to Americans. The Commander in Chief may be a retard at his job, Hegseth is worse, but the actual combatants are competent and effective as all hell. Yes, it's heavily about the tech, but it's not just tech. They are good.
Acyn@Acyn

Trump: WE GOT HIM! He sustained injuries, but he will be just fine. The fact that we were able to pull off both of these operations, without a SINGLE American killed, or even wounded, just proves once again, that we have achieved overwhelming Air Dominance and Superiority over the Iranian skies.

Trump is extremely neurotic/emotional especially when things get heated. Iran needs a deal and I think they could get one by making him break. They got pretty close already and I just don't think Americans will care about <10 weekly casualties if everything continues steady economically for another 2 months.

I think Iran is playing it well. Still likely to get wrecked, but smart. They're not granting passage for moneys. It's to establish the New Normal that outcompetes American/Emirati "defeating Iran is in everyone's interest!" narrative. France won't send the Navy after this.

@teortaxesTex Seems way too early for Iran to be doing this. They need to maximize economic pressure, try to capture long-term benefits later

@teortaxesTex Realistically if oil prices don't skyrocket from here the American public will just recalibrate to this new normal and strikes will continue to pick Iran apart for *months*

Trump was already squirming last week. I just don't know if getting the approval of middle tier powers or lower and allowing the US to operate on longer timeframes is smart here. They just don't matter that much. Even in a post war order in the middle east the reality that would arise is just might makes right.

@mmjukic A new might makes right world is born here. Iran can just bully OPEC w/ Russian backing to keep oil prices higher to prevent glut like we saw in early 2026. We will never go back.

For all the commerce people. Trade didnt stop several large wars in history. It made some even more existential. Nations do not sacrifice power for prosperity. They use prosperity to strengthen power. Economics and opportunity costs can be irrelevant when dominance is stake.

If Trump TACOs on Hormuz and Iran, its Cuba next. He's the type who after a failure looks for distractions. Nor does he gives up or learns his lesson. Telegraphs a lot.

Unless he whittles Iranian capability to strike at Israel down to ≈nothing before pulling out, I don't see how he can afford to do this. I guess it's more lies and market manipulation, as Ghalibaf says. Otherwise, he has intel that they're close.

BREAKING: Trump has told aides he is willing to 'end the U.S. military campaign against Iran even if the Strait of Hormuz remains largely closed', according to Wall Street Journal report.

US is going to get a major cyberoffense boost in the next 9-15 months And unlike nukes (used twice) or 5th gen fighter jets (deployed sparsely), they will be repeatedly used and deployed daily No other country has an answer to this (China will be 6-9 months behind if the current trajectory holds) youtube.com/watch?v=1sd26p…

@teortaxesTex I'm glad Cuba is a sh*t hole. There's nothing to fix 😭😭 why "fix" Latin America if that's even possible or something they just lie about when then after decades they become your competition just like Europe post ww2? Seems dumb

@AcerFur That would be a very large step upwards no? I don’t see why we need to have these models solve problems many humans have failed to solve for it to be considered meaningful. This alone is pretty impressive!

For the people who had largely dismissed AI Erdos solves as uninteresting (too similar to previous approaches, problems too simple, just didn't receive much attention): What do you think here? Interesting/meaningful step forward, or no? Why?
Epoch AI@EpochAIResearch

AI has solved one of the problems in FrontierMath: Open Problems, our benchmark of real research problems that mathematicians have tried and failed to solve. See thread for more.

Terafab is such a blatant fucking pump it actually disgusts me. There will never be leading edge chips from them. There will never be Datacenters in space. This is such a blatant effort to IPO SpaceX on the back of some pie in the sky bullshit and then merge with Tesla, do a humongous raise and keep twiddling his dick for another 5 years
