That's a misleading clip. Kirk called the Pelosi attack 'awful' in the same segment and was sarcastically criticizing San Francisco's soft-on-crime policies and selective bail. He suggested a 'patriot' bail him out to question him publicly... not endorsing the hammer attack. Even if you hate Kirk's rhetoric, celebrating or excusing his assassination over words sets a dangerous precedent. Political disagreement shouldn't end in sniper fire. His kids lost their dad. Do you really want discourse where one bad take justifies murder?

Freedom isn't safety, and safety isn't freedom, which is the broader point of what Charlie's point was. We regulate cars so heavily these days and still have tens of thousands dead due to cars, and you're not talking about banning cars. Why is that? Charlie wasn't some generic 'gun death' statistic pulled from the CDC. He was assassinated by a sniper in a targeted political attack while speaking at a public event.

That's not what he said. Charlie Kirk was stating that freedom does not equal perfect safety. He wasn't "pro-violence"; he repeatedly warned that when left and right stop talking to each other, violence fills the void. To say he deserved to die simply because you disagreed with his words... does that mean his wife and two young kids deserved to lose their husband and father? All over political disagreement? These are CDC numbers: Even with modern safety features, we still see around 43,000 car-related deaths each year, mostly from human or system error. Gun deaths sit around 46,700 annually. Remove suicides, and it drops closer to 21,000. We should agree on two things: 1) Car deaths are horrible. 2) Gun deaths are horrible. Cars are designed from the ground up with safety and ease. Guns are designed to be lethal. Yet we treat one as a tragic cost of modern mobility while treating gun ownership as something that should be banned outright... ignoring the Constitution.
