💼vs🌍 Bureaucracy versus planet Earth.
How can we ensure reporting standards for #BCAs don’t result in a spaghetti bowl of distinct, incompatible approaches?
IISD’s @Antoine_Bonnet_ latest report explores this and many other aspects of the BCA debate 🔎👇

@NateSilver538 Only true in nominal terms, when one adjusts to purchasing power the difference is far less dramatic. And importantly in “real” terms, the UK is richer now than they were in 2007.

English

In 2007, the UK had higher GDP per capita ($50K) than the US ($48K).
Now (2022) ours is $76K and theirs is $46K! (Source: World Bank)
Their economy has actually shrunk on a per-head basis. And stuff like this is going to make the gap bigger:

@NateSilver538 If the polls were to remain the same, what would be the probabilities on Election Day?
English

Today's numbers. Forecast seems to be stabilizing a bit, with Harris up ~2 nationally and ~0-1 points in most pivotal swing states.

@Gust_2319 @Lobster243724 @EuropeElects Is it’s anyone with Italian citizenship the figure is inaccurate as IT living outside EU don’t get to vote at EU elections.
English

@Lobster243724 @EuropeElects Yeah it's anyone with Italian citizenship, which is a large number. I also don't know if you even need to register to vote to be counted on this electorate figure. For other countries you might not be able to vote from abroad.

New chart📈: This is probably true in many countries:
People with average income cannot buy a home in the capital. Its just gotten too expensive.
In Norway, 97% of homes for sale in Oslo are out of reach for a person with average income.

@solar_chase This makes as little sense as saying that the bad thing about a great restaurant is that nearby restaurants don’t get clients.

@heimbergecon The other big take away here is the extraordinary convergence of Eastern EU member states.

@andreamatranga Amazing!! I’ve been fascinated by this paper since you first told me about it, over ten years ago! I’ve been teaching it just last semester at a course led by Mehdi Senouci at Centrale.
